  • Yup. It's not someone on a legal mode of transport. It just looks like a bike.

  • Created a pretty silly close call for myself this morning crossing the Surrey Canal Road onto the shared path from Trundleys Road next to Folkestone Gardens. Misjudged the speed of a van coming along the far lane and went across. Driver laid on the horn and I assume was just off my back wheel, feel like they could have eased up to slow a bit to avoid it further if they had that much time to react on the horn but on me for going for a gap that turns out wasn't there.
Cursed myself and felt pretty stupid as I continued on the shared path, but then saw out of the corner of my eye on the road what I thought was the van sticking to the back of the car in front, lo and behold the driver swings it around the roundabout next to Avalon cafe to block off the crossing of Landmann Way and have a shout at me about how he almost killed me. I just stopped, held up my hands to apologise and say it was on me before pulling around the back of the van and continuing on.

  • have a shout at me about how he almost killed me

    sounds like a dickhead.

I wonder if he was driving within the speed limit and appropriately to the prevailing conditions?

  • Is it just me or is it noticeable in the past year or so, the amount of suicidal riders on dodgy e-bikes (usually food delivery) has really spiked? I’ve lost count of how many have run red lights full charge into intersection traffic without even pausing to look to give way to the traffic which has a green. Ditto goes with Lime bikes, people without the skills or awareness of regular riders but with more power.

  • I still see cars barrel through reds so I don't think it's a problem with the vehicle it's a user issue.

  • Wow, wait until they hear about cars

  • Too many incidents, not 'newsworthy' enough.

  • To the gravel bro on the Porter Brook path yesterday who, on encountering a nice couple who stood apart to facilitate him passing and got their dog to lie down whilst he did so, decided it was a good idea to have a pop at them for using the bridleway and not the footpath on the other side of the river...why don't you go and ride on the cunting road?

And yes, I did stop to call him a prick. Not to his face, because he wasn't for stopping to hear anyone else's opinions. The prick.

  • Sheffield! I used to know the path well, and it was generally quite well shared - I did get told off a few times for being 'on the footpath' when definitely on the Bridleway, but his suggestion that pedestrians shouldn't be using a bridleway is astounding

  • Why do people feel the need to share their opinions all the time, who do people think they are? Just fucking live and let live.

  • What an awful story
