Yeah I know what you mean, but having something made from technical material that doesn't make you look like you should be hiking is a good idea.
It's basically what Rapha did with their whole urban/prommuter range. When I commuted (and could still fit in it), I wore my Rapha Fixie jacket constantly because it was both technically excellent for cycling <30m distances and looked normal enough to then wear to the pub.
I feel like the popularity of outdoor gear has meant that lots of people are happy with their
arcteryx gillets under their suit jackets. But it'd be nice if there was something that struck that balance properly. -

Uniqlo? Plenty change from 800€...picked up raincoat/parka thing, was about £110 and really rate it.
Hawkwood mercantile another option that would be a bit less minimal and more military/outdoor inspired.
Also Norse Projects have some cracking coats.

I tried a Uniqlo last year, was very good but not nice enough.
Norse projects of course, but not much change.
Will check hawk wood. -

This beams parka is pretty nice: https://www.sevenstore.com/outerwear/coats-jackets/mint-mt-parka-jacket/
Colour not for everyone though.

Same when I can afford it. Folk too.
-
• #6009
If you like Folk, go to TK Maxx website and search for 'folk clothing' - serious bargains to be had, cheaper than their own archive sale which has just finished and is itself big discounts.

Oh nice cheers!

Veilance is reassuringly pricy.

any idea on the sizing for their jumpers? i'm 198cm tall, broadish shoulders but reasonably slim often struggling between L and XL for sizing.

I bought a super dry black wax coat on my first paycheck its great and really fuckin great not to be babour or belstalf ... Jackets however..
-
• #6014
I'm 6 foot and very much averagely proportioned. I wear their size 3 (which is medium on TK Maxx now) and this is a good fit but snug rather than loose. My guess would be that they size slightly small and if I were you I'd try XL. But, at TK prices I'd probably buy both and just return the one you didn't like.

Those are great but not into the laser cut look.
Current front runner is this trout fishing 3in1 catastrophy from south2 west8 on Vinted. Not exactly a rain jacket, but I will look like a fashion victim with questionable taste. And that’s the goal.

Also has the bonus of so many pockets that tapping my pockets looking for stuff can fill whole afternoons.

But as it goes what I actually bought is this down parka. It’s nice and I miss the spiewak one I outgrew ten years ago.
It’s from Montecore which looks like a less cool aspesi.

So nice.
Ive got one of those arc'teryx keppler macs, love it. Has absolutely zero warmth though so needs a down layer or to hibernate until spring.

Vollebak have some pricey jackets
Their eiderdown one needs a mortgage to purchase it. -

That's nice, I got a similar jacket from Everlane which is the one in the link below:

Vinted seller cancelled because „jacket is ruined“.
More likely someone offered more than 50€. -

Went in to Edwin today. Friendly helpful chap helped me. They didn’t have the selvedge, in fit size, colour I liked so have cheaper full cotton version. Think I may also get the selvedge.
Anyone used the alteration service? -

I had some similar trousers but I couldn’t handle the look of an elastic waistband, I felt like a toddler.
I nabbed one of these brown Paynter Harris tweed raglan overcoats, popped-collar-tastic !

@inchpincher I have similar hesitations but given I work from home, and spend most my time looking after the kids perhaps it’s a gateway back to trousers…? How did they wash?
Nice!! This is a cheaper option I’d also seen https://www.nn07.com/en/uk/franco-8439-jacket-black-multi
But I’m a sucker for those storm flap things under the collar.
Thanks everyone plenty to get looking at
