His descent with safa and that famous pedalcatch near death facing is enough for him to have world fame.

Paging Pidders and the Q36ers…
Decent coverage of this with MVDP, Wout, Pog, Mohoric, Swenson and some of the US contingent would be brilliant. Stick it near the end of the season. Forget the Vuelta.

strike 2 after that PvD video posted as satire
-
• #51980
PvD made that video in good faith and I shared it so. Shame on you for your dirty mind. Strike [lost count].

Everything is relative, $350 is a bit over budget for my level & frequency of riding

Fuck. Just seen the Keirin crash. Hope riders and spectators are ok.
New fences were supposed to stop that sort of thing.
-

Looks like bars got hooked? They were stuck headed in a straight trajectory. Fuck.

Broken forearm for Katie Marchant, Propster the German cyclist was ‘walking’ presume the crowd members were ok.

The new fences are pretty minimal given how fast they ride and the angles of the track — I’m not too surprised that it didn’t stop this from happening. Pretty awful all around

That's not a bad outcome considering the other possibilities. The way they were talking during the cut away aerial shots I was expecting much worse.

They're much more than the previous, but failed their first real (high profile) test. They need be higher with a trackside lip to direct riders back inwards maybe? The impacts would still be heavy for riders but pose less risk to crowd?
I don't envy those responsible for designing the next version.

Rescinded, PVD = god.

Has anyone been to watch the women’s Tour de France in person? I’m curious how it is as it’s a maybe for us during the summer holidays, maybe see it a couple of times near the start with a mid stage watch and a start and or finish.
We went to the vuelta which was great but relatively low key caravan and all the riders dived straight in the bus and were off within minutes.
Worth dragging kids to or not? -

I went to a stage start in Bastogne near me this year after seeing a couple of the men's race stages in Burgundy. You can definitely get to see the riders better as there are less people there and less separation of the riders from the public but it's not quite the spectacle of the men's race. All that said, there were lots of kids around and the riders seemed happy to stop to interact with spectators on the way to and from the podium.
Caravan isn't much to write home about, it's mostly the key sponsors and passes in a few minutes so if that's a draw that could be a problem. Again, though, because it's smaller, the people on the caravan seemed to make sure that most kids seemed to get stuff.

I’d appreciate it if you could rate the edge lords of cycling on an axis of evil. From godlike to satanic.
Incl: Heine, Peterson, English, Sachs, PvD, Hansen, Pierce, BK, etc

That actually sounds ideal with kids, fewer grown ups barging in grabbing bottles is good
-
• #51995
Still loads of them but definitely far less fuckwits
-
• #51996
Yep pretty much in that order. And to keep the thread relevant, Valverde in top 3.

Hansen is pro cyclings biggest edgelord. There aren’t many contenders in today’s peloton, sadly.
Maybe Kort? But I don’t think a moustache is enough. Healey?

Campenaerts?

Good shout. Although I’ve seen Healey put gels in his shoe covers, so I think he beats him.
Rowe definitely double dared him. G got a pint out of it, at least.
