The new fences are pretty minimal given how fast they ride and the angles of the track — I’m not too surprised that it didn’t stop this from happening. Pretty awful all around
They're much more than the previous, but failed their first real (high profile) test. They need be higher with a trackside lip to direct riders back inwards maybe? The impacts would still be heavy for riders but pose less risk to crowd?
I don't envy those responsible for designing the next version.
Fuck. Just seen the Keirin crash. Hope riders and spectators are ok.
