  • No idea what is going on. This was a bar graph.

    https://images.app.goo.gl/DpB7rbhZappRHuPB9

  • Post above and post below were supposed to be together

  • That was from statistica 'Public spending on the police service in the United Kingdom rose to 27.3 billion British pounds in 2023/24, the highest amount spent during the provided time period. Between 2009/10 and 2013/14 the amount of public money spent on the police fell from 19.3 billion pounds to just 16.35 billion pounds, due to the austerity policies followed by the UK government at the time.'

    More to come

  • never have been designed to actually keep people safe.

Peelian principles were designed with that as a priority, in fact. But those have been long forgotten by politicians and a lot of the police senior leadership. ACPO setting up its own private security service certainly wasn't in Robert Peel's plans.

  • Small industrial estates where Directors have their own parking space.

  • Where do these stats actually come from? I clicked the link but couldn't find an ONS or government source, and the funding figure doesn't match at all what other reputable sources have. Your figure appears to overstate by give or take £10bn...

  • Youtubers (that my daughter watches) who have no sense that shouting down their mic sounds really shit.

  • Who's the boomer now?

  • Yeah but statista is just a data aggregator, I think. The actual source of the data is just listed as 'D Clark' (just some guy?), you can't see any more, perhaps unless you're a member. Given that it is miles off the official government data, I'm inclined to think it's absolute bollocks

  • Gen X has to replace them at some point... GeriatriX'ers against Shouty Youtubers is a fight I'm willing to get involved in.

  • In my defence, I just googled the figure ltc quoted and first reply was that.

10 billion is a big difference.

  • First and foremost, let me just state that I love the NHS and the principle of free at the point of use is one that I will defend to the death, but fuck me, it's become a fucking state.

The following have all happened in the last 6 months.

MiL has been diagnosed with cancer. She found out because she turned up to the hospital last week for an appointment (gyno) to be told, you don't have an appointment with us today, but you have an appointment on Friday with oncology. She's since had the appointment and its a very aggressive form of cancer, that spreads quickly and has apparently been caused by the vast amount of radiation she received from the last time she got cancer. Now, she's had symptoms for months, but the GP has been dawdling "oh don't worry, if it continues we can refer you under the two week rule". Well it did go on for months and didn't refer her under the two week rule, which is the fucking point of the two week rule.

FiL has been on high blood pressure tablets for years, but no one has actually been checking his blood pressure to see if they're actually working. Surprise surprise, he's in heart failure due to high blood pressure and has atrial fibrillation. Cardiologist performed an op to fix the heart. What they didn't do, at any point is warn him that at his age, going under general anaesthetic can signigicantly increase the likelihood of triggering or accelerating dementia. So, now he has been diagnosed with vascular dementia and is deteriorating fast. Now, up until recently he was walking a few miles a day, was volunteering at the steam railway, machining parts and even flying gliders solo. Now he can't remember how to tie his shoelaces.

SiL had a premature baby at 28 weeks who very sadly died after 3 days. There was an investigation into the death. The report is a shit show. It firstly states 3 different causes of death in different parts of the report. The timeline of events is completely inaccurate. Its states that the mother has illnesses that she did not. It does however state that the care was completely inadequate.

I had previously started to lose some faith in the system after my mothers death 5 years ago, but it just seems to be getting worse. My mum had a cough for months, kept going to the GP and kept getting sent back telling her it was nothing to worry about. When the GP finally did act, they found out she had lung cancer, stage 4. Even then she didn't get any treatment for a month and passed within 3 months of diagnosis.

    Sorry rant over.

  • Really sorry to read all of this, mate. Please do rant away in here if it's cathartic.

  • What a shit show, sorry you're all having to endure it.

  • That’s awful, blow after blow.

  • Fuck me.

Cunts eroding universal healthcare need to be lined up against a wall.

  • eBay sellers who state: 'I won't post, but I will box it up for you to arrange tour own courier'.

That's the worst of both worlds.

  • tbh if I sell my cannondale track this is how I'd approach shipping, possibly without boxing it either. I'd ideally hand it on to someone to accept as is and liability for condition at that point would (hopefully) no longer be mine.

Collection in person would be preferred.

The complexity of this is why I haven't tried to sell it.

  • The 'British Values' BS that schools are forced to enforce

  • Today
Just fuck off into the sea, all of it

  • I will add to that. This week. This week can get to fuck

  • people who use periods when instant messaging. Can you come across as more of a fucking prick?
