  • Lumintop turned up. Looks really well made.

Shame it doesn’t actually work. Now I get to see how good the customer service is.

  • Just heard back from Exposure and it’s £17 to fix a connection issue with battery, have asked about potential battery replacement if they can ascertain the condition of the cell(s) or just wait until they fail.
No idea how long they last?

Update, battery is fine but 8 years old so will get it replaced for £28, £45 in total.

  • My new Lumintop arrived. It is different from the old ones, eg the button is more raised. But the main difference is that the controls work differently. Short press for on/off and long press to cycle through levels. while my old one is the other way round. I can't think why they would have changed it.

If I only had the new one it would be fine, but having two that work differently is going to confuse me!

  • My two old ones are the other way round too.

Tbh that new way sounds better! And matches most other Chinese flashlight ui's (probably why they changed it)

  • Top work Exposure, on upselling as well as service!

Sent in a MK6ish Strada for repair and a custom switch. Offered me a decent trade in price, with the switch mod free. Paid for a discounted MK11 but after they couldn't find any, sent the new MK12 for the same price. Not used outside yet but the beam pattern has come on a long way in 6 gens.

  • If anyone has an exposure light with a red eye powered from the smart port can you tell me if you get a very slight flicker from the main light when the red eye is plugged in? Got my light back from Exposure and on the mid and low power settings I get a slight shimmer from the front light, probably wouldn’t notice it out on the road but I was setting up the power modes indoors and checking everything works.
Mine is a Diablo Mk 7 and mk1 red eye with long cable.

  • Ended up going with some p-clips, a garmin rack mount (for vario lights) and a stick-on garmin male mount. Pretty happy with how it’s turned out tbh.

  • Fake dynamo setup ready to roll. Being able to high / low from the handlebars is real handy. The mount could seat the Strada a little better, might get another printed that sits higher to better clear mudguard spray.

  • That's very reasonable. I've got my Diablo with them at the moment.

2020 Mk11 that's hit the deck a few times and doesn't seem to charge properly now. It goes straight to "fully charged" and then you get about 2hrs out of it on low settings. Hopefully they can replace the cells or fix whatever I've broken.

  • I can test this. I have a Red Eye I never use now and missus has a Maax-D on her bike...

  • Can't say I noticed any flicker. It blinks on/off when you plug in the RedEye and the front beam appears to be the same. Maybe the Diablo doesn't have enough grunt to run the rear light too?

  • Excellent in-depth video behind the scenes at Supernova. Real attention to detail there. https://youtu.be/BEY9Q1J6gB0

  • No it’s fine to run it, the Diablo is actually designed as a mtb helmet light and the lumen output is quite high, it drops slightly with the red eye plugged in which is just a bit of the output diverted to the smart port.

I’ll see how it looks out in the dark, not actually ridden anywhere since I got it back as weather has been sub optimal.

  • Quick post turned into long one-
I have been enjoying my lumintop B01 that arrived this week. Seems well made.
Panic when I thought it was not working but a simple check found a plastic tab on the battery cap to stop it from switching on in transit etc
The light is used as a back up/secondary to a Dynamo . The cut off on the beam is very pronounced compared to any light I have used. Great for commuting, especially on cycle paths where I feel I will not blind others like I am by some very strong but multidirectional lights. I have had to stop and let them pass before I continue , so strong are some, so this is a big big plus point for the light.
The colour of the beam is also unique. Compared to other lights, it is quite warm almost yellow/like candle light colour, very noticeable when running with another at same time. Quite like it.
Switches are intuitive once you get it. Always have to learn when coming from a different light but the one press on/off is great as a back up boost to Dynamo.
Bracket looks big off the bike, but fine on with light affixed. Thought it would not be possible to run upside down with the way it has an open press in clasp action, but has been fine this week. Having a lanyard gave confidence to try.
Mr Previous back up was a cat eye volt 300 about 10 years old that works still but a dodgy worn clip. Would have bought again but instead of aluminium construction new ampp series plastic which is fine but not sure 10 years fine.
So far would recommend for 30 quid inc taxes and a big 21700 Samsung battery.
But… will hopefully report back on 10 years time!
