As I thought, 43mm tyres (which probably measure up nearer to 40mm on 19mm internal rims) fit very nicely indeed.
Threw on a pair of Panaracer GK semi slicks I had in my stash (from a build that didn't happen in the summer).
If anyone is interested in a very lightly used (50 miles max) pair of Ultradynamico Cava JFF 700 x 39 (come up narrower on 19mm internal rims), black/black tyres, gimme a shout.
