Ordering online from IKEA for delivery can be a bit of a ballache. I've occasionally paid a premium (although not much when you take postage into account) to buy an IKEA item from Amazon as I needed it next day.

We have a bag for each of our bromptons, tbh they only get used to stop things getting dirty when you are taking your bikes to friends etc. I tend to leave the saddle sticking out and carry by that.

Yeah, good point. I lived near the now-closed Tottenham branch, and it's now a lot more inconvenient to grab a few items.

If I’m moving overseas where there aren’t restrictions on e-bike speeds, can I get an e-Brompton unlocked?
Also, 15mph is a stupid, stupid limit in a country where the vast majority of streets are 30mph and the law limits e-bike assistance to 20mph.

people ride restricted ebikes?! 😁😉

You might wanna check with your airlines on batteries on board their flights.
British Airways told a mate he's not allowed to bring his eBrompton with him to Spain.

• #16408
Cheers, yeah, the battery can’t be couriered or flown commercially but the bike by itself should be fine. I’d need to purchase a new battery on arrival.

What’s the forum approved wrap for a p line? Bike shield?

Wonder why they don't just move them to another outlet?
Ex demo maybe?

Dave Millar was chatting on a podcast with Ned Boulting (never strays far) only a couple of weeks ago about a future Brompton/Chpt3 scheduled for 2025. I wonder if they reappear in another guise and if it does happen or that's it...
-
• #16414
They'll probably still making the CHPT3 as it is still good marketing, just probably not with additional accessories.
-
• #16415
They should rebrand it CHPT11.

Ouch!

Lots of cheap izumi chains out there at the moment and i’ll be buying a 1/8 chain for my fixed but will an izumi 3/32 116links be ok for a 2 speed Brompton?
specifically this one: https://www.bananaindustries.co.uk/products/izumi-chain-cic800n-1-2-3-32-116l-black?_pos=26&_sid=1c2d32d72&_ss=r

Cheers for the heads up on the izumi chains!

The protruding pins on my current Izumi and other (KMC) single-seven speed 3/32 chains would not work well on a Brompton, as the extended pins on the quick-link would catch on the Brompton jockey wheels. With some normal jockey wheels or after-market ones, probably not a problem.

I will let you know because I just bought one. Worst case, I’ll put it on my road bike.
(Bunch of stuff on sale. Nearly slid down a slippery slope there.)

Mine are turning up soon, will compare the links to the stock chain.

I’m having to sit on my hands here.

So I'm still pondering a 2 speed conversion for my 6 speed. I only use the bike for commuting and all of the hills I face are long but not steep and I never use 1st or 2nd gear. The final, 6th gear is pretty long too and rarely used. Never get into it in London and only on my way home going back down the hills does it see any use but I could just as easy roll or spin the 5th.
I want to lighten the bike basically, I have to carry it up and down stairs daily. I also prefer simplicity and would love to do away with the second shifter.
Does 2 speed sound like a good option? If I stick with a 50t, I can keep my current 3rd gear ratio and get a second somewhere between my current 4th and 5th which would be perfect for the London leg but I lose the top end which is occasionally handy.2 speed wheel and then 3 speed external conversion?

Wouldn't it be cheaper/simpler to run it as a 3sp considering you've already got the BWR hub/wheel? That's how I've got mine setup and it's been grand.
LMAO
Indeed. They're not robust. I only bought one as the stupid office I was working in at the time said bikes have to be bagged unless they're in the basement lockup. After two days I gave up and snuck in on the service lift. I set a precedent that caused that stupid rule to drop. #wins
