• multiple wood burning stoves in dense urban area, FFS. Were UFH or (gasp) radiators a bit gauche?

  • Was surprised to see that, in a modern efficient house like that are they even needed?

I grassed to the council on one of the big detached houses I can see out the window as they were burning damp unseasoned logs through most of the winter, could smell it out in the street and when i lived up the road you couldn’t leave the bathroom window open when they using their open fire/log burner as the smoke smell came in the flat.

They had a letter and a visit as it’s a designated smoke control area round here.

  • good, well done! There's someone near me doing that but I haven't been able to detect which chimney it's coming from.

in a modern efficient house like that are they even needed?

The answer is usually no, but they are included for the aesthetic/lifestyle reasons.
