"holdwest" on ebay are a reliable source of 2nd hand Levis. They measure actual sizes, and I think do returns. If you research the model number for the fit you want it might be worth a try.

It won't impress the limited-edition-only-artisanally-made-Japanese-selvedge ponces on here, but I'm really pleased with the pair of Edwins I bought recently. I went to the shop to be able to try on their different sizes and shapes, then bought online when a style I wanted was on sale. £80 for what feel like a really well made and decent quality pair of jeans.

Edwin, APC and Acne I think are decent jeans which match your criteria at the more fashion end of things.
I’d also go to clutch and Anglo Italian. They are both really nice shops which carry a range of different jeans by different brands in a range of styles. Find their service levels really good. I found SoS a bit snooty.
I wear a high rise jean but also like something softer. As such a washed jean takes care of some of that.

Who's doing chinos which are a bit nicer than Uniqlo? Similar style please to this pair I bought & returned from CC because they've sewn in a really long zip so it looks like you're wearing a codpiece when you walk*.

Pleated chinos? Ew
Did you try the more standard models from CC?
Both the loose fit and slim are lower rise. -

Beams do some which are nice in a very similar style - though worth checking the leg length.
My favourite chinos are from
natalino but they’re not the same as the ones above -

Universal Works pants?

M&S have a million chino styles, cheap and seem well made.
I appreciate this comment may be grounds for being banned from this thread. -

a great way to mix up your trouser selection
Fuck me. The models on that website look like they couldn't mix a V&T.

That's a good shout, I have an older navy pair of UW which I quite like and reckon I can sneak over to Coal Drops Yard this week... Thanks!
@withered_preacher I might even iron a crease in them for extra Ewwwwwwww
@Tenderloin Beams possibly a bit too boxy but I'll drop into End and see if they've got them in stock... cheers.
@sacredhart Not knocking M&S but the styles might verge a bit on the conservative, I will investigate though.

Pricing of UW stuff seems crazy, £200 for some hastily assembled cords in China. I last bought stuff there in 2017 and it all seemed reasonable price/quality, have they moved that upmarket now?

Indeed. Hipsterflation.
I only ever try and get stuff in the sales

Looking for a jacket on the rainproof side of things, for being outside without looking like I am hiking. Everything is either sportswear (I have a basic montane number and a cycling specific one for that) or so much money.
Feels like everything has become very expensive.
Something like the nanamica 65/35 stuff but actually available and less than 800€, Barbour that doesn’t look like farmer cosplay, fjallrävern but not geography teacher.Any ideas?

Clas!
Wool over the knee and a regenschirm?
I actually have a Arket/Tretorn rain jacket for when things really get wet to wear over.
I just feel like a teenager otherwise -
• #5997
Ruud!
Don’t worry, I have nice coats and acceptable umbrellas.
I want something that also works on the bike.
And I dress somewhat like my teenage self again anyway. -
• #5998
Actually tretorn might be a nice addition, but I don’t want the full on rubber thing.
-

Belstalf and the less trad Barbour range.
Tbh this is actually where SuperDry made a good niche.

Where is the go to place for jeans for a London dad whose 511’s are too skinny and low rise for his age… apparently. I’ve liked these for a long time as they are soft.
I’d like something relatively slim still ideally dark stitched and a softer denim if possible.
Ideally it’ll have lots of size, fit options and maybe even brands. Given I predominantly live in shorts post Covid I’ll definitely not be getting more than a couple of pairs so not to restricted budget wise but I’m sure LFGSS can test that lol
