  • Did you go and look at the Merc in the end?

  • But where do you pin the oversized year-round poppy?

  • What the ever living fuck is that...

We have entered the sex toy X gundam colab phase of car design

  • I dunno why, but the jag just reminds me of this:

  • There is nothing interesting about that jag but the colour.

I guess the brief to Dall-E was "design a boxy electric muscle car for the Emirati market, but pink".

  • case closed

  • i care very little about cars but why didnt tesla cybertruck get the same reaction as this?

or maybe it did I didnt notice

this pink thing looks like anodised cybertruck

  • I agree. Thought it was exactly the same design aesthetic.

Fairly sure a lot of people have slated the cyber truck though.

  • I've only got an MX5 as my track car so I've never thought it was worth forking out for insurance for that.

The next track I'd recommend after Brands would be Bedford.

It's flatter so less exciting, but you can go faster with lots of run off, and it's not too far away.

Likewise, Snetterton is a relatively easy journey (depending on which side of London you live) and there's plenty of room to test out some proper high-speed cornering, come off and not crash.

If you're looking for proper topography and exciting race circuits though, Donny and Anglesey should be on your list.

  • Just my opinion but this jag and the cyber truck are worlds apart.

The cyber truck is a piece of shit that should never have made it further down the design process than a doodle on a napkin

  • I won't ever be dropping 100k on a car, but it looks like the kind of thing that people who drop 100k on cars and post them all over Instagram would be dead keen on.

  • God I love MK1 MX5.

By now are the majority of them rust free as they've all been welded up, or this wishful thinking?

  • Wishful thinking.

How many have had proper repairs, if it was the cills, removing the outer, probably the middle and then the inner? Time and labour wise many many just had patches over the rusty bits. How many were correctly braced before the cutting and welding?

  • I wouldn't like to get knocked over by one

  • There is a sensor to stop that.

  • An answer I knew was coming :(

Apparently they rust from the inside out? Doesn't surprise me for a Jap car tbh, as most Civics are bad for this.

My friend had a mk1 he purchased off an old lady in the village he grew up in when we were about 16 for what I remember to be around £300. It was mint...

  • Are they magic rusting from the inside out ;) Water trapped causes rust. Mx5 MK1 are brilliant as they were worked on by Ricardo on the south coast.

Couple of years ago, as mentioned on here, I got two low mileage mx5 for very very cheap. Mechanically fine but one was red and the other green. One eunos and on UK. Both need smallish patches below 30cm each. But further inspection hid a lot more.

  • Only an mx5 MK1....a great trackday race or fun car. Also yours is a little special.

  • Anyone need extra storage over Xmas but doesn't have enough room to store a fuckoff big roofbox?

Did a clearout on my day off and realised we still have this foldable one even though we inherited myfolks roofbox.

    £30
NABIYE Car Roof Bag Waterproof,... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09T34CMH9?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I like it. Obvs it takes a bit more thought to fit than a plastic one, but straightforward and importantly it packs down. We used it in torrential rain one Xmas it everything was aok inside.

  • What's recommended for cleaning windscreens? Mine always seem a bit grubby even after cleaning and wiping down the wipers and it is a bit more obvious now it's dark.

  • The Soft 99 stuff is great. Their compound cleaner and the new coating product is spectacular.

And get fresh blades too. I change ours every 18 months without fail.

  • How many of you have owned a marina? Or even driven one.

Not as an arguement, just wondering?
