  • Agree, I think Chrono24 is a good bet, and it's definitely a buyer's market at the moment, you should absolutely push for a good price.

  • And post pics when you get it, of course

  • I've seen a Monta skyquest GMT on the eBay for a good price. Anyone got first hand experience with these? @JB ? I do already have a GS sbgn 019 and a BB 58 black and gold so no real need but it's cheap and I quite fancy a Coke or Pepsi bezel.
EDIT: this video talked me out of it. I really like his channel

  • TLDR.

Watches are like bike frame builders in the 60s.

    Too many.

He had a robot on the shelf so he can stay.

  • I think those robot watch holders are in IFL's Black Friday sale at the moment.
EDIT: only 20% off so still quite an expensive novelty

  • New daily, starting to get quite taken with field watches from Seiko sub brands..

  • I like those. Definitely prefer the case with crown guards to my 8260

  • Had a peep at a white one in H Samuel today and it looked a bit cheap next to the others. Wouldn’t recommend that one. Blue, green, black ones all nice.

Missed out on some deals for the Prospex Alpinist GMT, and a King Turtle I was eyeing up. I don't think I'll have any regrets given how long I've planned to buy one, but I went for the 5KX GMT instead. The green completely trumped the black vs raspberry debate. Looking forward to the more solid links, although I'll probably end up chucking a nato or leather strap for comfort.

In other news, my son's Save the Ocean Monster has arrived, but won't be gifted until his party. That means it's unopened and I still haven't seen it!

  • Last one I promise. Completed at last. Anyone interested drop me a message.

  • Looks great!

  • This looks amazing!

  • Lovely collection. Thanks for sharing.

  • Nice, this is my sweet spot for watches.

  • This i like.

  • @Regal Really pleased with my choice. The watch looks great - not as bright a green as I feared and the dial looks good in the right lighting conditions. You're right that the solid end links make a difference, although the bracelet does still feel a little flimsy, and the clasp is an entry level Seiko 5 one.

I'm no pilot (are any of us) but constantly juggling time zones and doing the maths in my head. I've got a feeling I won't be able to go back to non-GMTs after this.

EDIT: The non-clicky/ratchet bezel doesn't phase me at all. Time will tell.

  • Looks great, congrats!

I think the thing to remember about the bracelet is it's so much improved from the old £100-150 Seiko 5s from before the rebrand a few years back. Friction-closing clasps, folded bracelet links in a lot of cases, they were genuinely quite crappy. Yes, the clasp is still stamped but overall it's so much more solid and comfortable. People moan about the price increases but they are clearly much better made.

Uncle Straps want like £70 for a jubilee with folded end links, a snap clasp, and made out of cheaper steel that smells of iron when you sweat.

  • Yeah good point. I had some older, cheaper Seiko 5s and the bracelet and clasp are similar but improved. I also compared with a newer (hollow end linked) Seiko 5 bracelet's clasp and I realised what's giving the 'flimsy' feel. It's the width. This Jubilee is narrower than what I'm used to, but is adequate.

Can't complain about the price and they're regularly on sale for ~300, the Orange even lower at times. The watch looks way more expensive than what I paid, and I really welcome the crystal over the bezel. Makes it look as good as a Ceramic one.

  • Also I think jubilees just feel looser than oyster-style bracelets, that's kind of baked into the design. But yeah. Not saying they're the best bracelets ever at the price point but they're decent and comfy, I reckon. Good enough, basically.

  • I’ve noticed the “3” on the Citizen looks quite funky. Also, @Regal what is that font used for the word “Chronomaster”? I really like it.

  • That is so nice except for the date wheel (and window) - wish they'd do a no date version but don't think they have.

  • I'm not expecting either the citizen or chronomaster to be a free of licence font - but await the proper answer with proper language

  • The "Chronomaster" text looks like an adapted font (the "r"s don't join up fully the way they would on custom drawn type) but I couldn't tell you the name of it.
