Thanks for looking.

Very reassuring to see that all of the handful of places I leave my bike locked up seem to be theft hotspots. It might be time to upgrade my lock!

Thanks, very interesting, and a nice effort. Obviously, actual thefts always outstrip recorded thefts. Also, unfortunately the data from the 2021 census that they've chosen to use isn't very good, as it contains the pandemic anomalies. The actual level of cycling is higher. Still, a good initiative.

No use, they're after the Crumpet DNA on your bikes.
More seriously, the key thing is to think more about where to lock a bike (develop a feel for which places are insecure), and other things like locking technique. Locks are just passive, low-level defence—always over-hyped because people want to sell them to you, but as we've seen many times, no obstacle for determined thieves.
Some of this probably needs updating, but most of it still applies:

Anyone who clones that beast is welcome to deal with the consequences (constant demands for attention and treats).
I like to think I'm pretty savvy when it comes to locking up. I've yet to have a bike stolen so must be lucky and hopefully doing something right! Cynically, I just try and make my bike less attractive of a target than something else nearby by using a decent lock and leaving mine next to something posher/shinier (not hard). That link is a useful reminder though.

I also have never (touch wood) had one stolen, I’m fairly lucky to work in a construction site, so my main locking activities is harder to get into than the UK lol.
And outside of work I’m using good locks, fairly careful, and try to keep an eye on it at least. -

Sorry to hear that. There was a spate of thefts from hallways a few years ago, mostly from Clapton. Let's hope there won't be another one.

Let Community Cycle Works, Edwardes, The Bike Project, BabyLdn, Bob's Cyles, Cycleworks, Nazaan Cycles and Brixton Cycles know if you not already had.
Used to spend many an afternoons at Myatts Fields when I was with BC so that area was pretty familiar to me!
This isn't at the allotments any more, just swung by and checked
Eta: someone kind with a code to the allotment gate might have taken it in.
