Another option to test it out:

I imagine if you plug it into your phone and open up the default voice recorder/memo app, it'd just be like recording using the mic in a standard set of wired phone earbuds. Not sure how sensitive they'd be as I've never used them myself, they normally are plugged into a field recorder or similar, so you might struggle to pick up the sound without an amp or something. But if you plug them in, record and give them a good tap you should be able to tell.
But with a standard 3.5mm connector and adhesive pads, I'd be amazed if they were something else.
Edit: Beaten to it

Who makes Van Rysel stuff or are they some in-house brand made by Decathlon?

It’s Decathlon’s posh bike brand for people who would never turn up to a club ride on a B-Twin.
Though those bars are identical to generics on Ali Express. Maybe posher pads.

Decathlon’s version of Wiggle’s Prime brand
unlikely to explode the moment you fit them

I've still not used Ali Express and won't be starting today.
They look like they'll make a cheap and cheerful addition to the Surly (certainly cheaper than Zipp Vuka Alumina which is what I'd usually have bought).

I think Uba used a set on Tour Divide so they are probably durable enough.
Thanks both

Do 2:1 laced rear hubs need a rim with a specific 2:1 drilling/offset?
I have a conventionally drilled 24h rim (spoke holes offset alternately left then right) already and I'm looking at a 24h hub with 2:1 flanges (8NDS/16DS), I just want to confirm that's not going to work is it? -

Amazing thanks will DM.

So I’m having a very senior moment and while I can program a video recorder and sort my WiFi router my brain hurts trying to work this out.
Wowcher. Bought an Apple Watch my partner wanted, was bombarded with emails from them so unsubscribed, did not tick the box for joining their code scheme for discounts on more landfill tat.
But looking at various order confirmation emails it’s not clear if I’m supposed to ‘redeem’ my code to actually get the watch delivered? And I’m getting emails saying ‘stock is running low’ and ‘redeem now’. Is this all a ploy to confuse the weak minded such as myself to click in desperation and sign up to forced shopping channel viewing that makes the buy now button finger start twitching?
Not had a despatch notification yet.
Am I going to have to spend 4 hours on hold to get money back/watch delivered? -

I don't remember having to sign up for or redeem anything to get an Apple watch delivered, when I bought one as a gift in the past.
I just checked, and last year I got a "we're processing your order" email, followed by dispatch notification, and an invoice. Nothing else.
Are you buying this direct from Apple?

What does it show when you log in to your account on the Wowcher site?
-
• #124566
It’s from Wowcher who sell a lot of old model/refurbished electronics
-
• #124567
Didn’t think of that, having a brain fade, maybe I should get this moved to the middle aged thread…

Never used them, but they appear to only sell 'vouchers' which it's up to you to redeem against the product from some other company.
Pretty weird way of buying stuff.
-
• #124569
"The voucher will contain full instructions on what to do next including how you redeem the voucher and the contact details for the merchant providing the deal. For instance, if the deal is for a restaurant offer, we'll include contact details for the restaurant to enable you to book your table. If the deal is for a product that requires delivery, we'll send you a link to our redemption page or the merchant's website where you can enter your voucher code and delivery details so the product can be delivered to you."

What a complete shit show, I have to pay twice! funds are already taken but the redemption page asks me to pay and they also want £10 for delivery despite the delivery being free on the actual purchase page. had a robot WhatsApp chat and they will get back to me in 24 hrs but will try to give me ‘woucher credit’ not a refund.
annoyingly they didn’t take amex/apple pay so paid on a debit card.
Made a rod for my own back here but lesson learned.
DO NOT BUY FROM WOUCHERthanks for your assistance LFGSS

I was trying to hold fire with my comment, but now you've said it yourself, I feel I can now make it.
In my experience, do not buy anything from Wowcher!
-
• #124573
Christ. How annoying.
-
• #124574
Makes me wonder how many people ‘buy' something then sit there waiting for it to be delivered then the voucher expires and you get no refund.
It’s a smart business model as no actual store or warehouse just an online store front with cut from 3rd party sales and the accidental sign up for the paid subscription without realising it. -

It's a long time since I've sent something in the post that isn't a letter or parcel. I've got a small jiffy bag that I think would come under Large Letter. Can I just stick a few standard first class stamps on and that will do the job?
And what stamps work nowadays? I have a vague memory that they changed but picture ones are still usable or something.
Contact mic would be my guess as well. Do you have a stereo/laptop with an aux in? You could try plugging it in and tapping it.
