Was a bit disappointed with a couple of things about the shifter, the boss that the shifter sits on is quite loose in the mount which gives the shifter a feeling of having a lot of backlash when it’s off the bike but thankfully once it’s fitted and the adjuster is cranked down to the correct tension that feeling goes away.
The other thing was that the groove in the casting where the cable sits was pretty rough and ragged. It didn’t take much filing to clean it up though.

Banging!
I found that shifting with the ball of my thumb stopped it aching too much ymmv. -

Excellent.
Next level upgrade would be to change the Ene shifter’s lever to a hospital tap handle that you can nudge with your elbow. -

Haha, big two foot long thing!
I do have previous experience of putting extensions onto shifters…https://www.lfgss.com/comments/16707544/

Finished up on the Rockhopper.
Well, it needs a change of seatpost as the saddle angle slips on this one even when it’s horsed ‘the fuck’ up.
Dunno whether to chuck some rockhopper decals on it or not but have put a wee Rockhopper Penguin on the headtube.

love it.
I reckon it would look cool with some OG decals, maybe editted to 'rokchopper' to go with the customisation?
do you know what year the frame is from? -

I like RokChopper!
It was sold as being a 1986 but with a bit of uncertainty.

found this pic of an '86 decal... looks like this was before the big specialized wording on the frame, just this one on the downtube so quite low key.

This is pretty stupendous. I’m very sorry you don’t take commissions any more as this is the exact kind of build I’m attempting with my SS Rockhopper, and that’s got a crusty AF seatstay bridge that needs replacing, and could do with horizontal dropouts too!

makes me think - using a removable faceplate stem and clamping to the top bar, one could use the bottom loop to support at drybag/carradice style bag a lá VO Utiliy bar. Or braze ons for bottle/cargo cages.
Maybe cages on the back, carradice up front..

Clould definitely work!
Ene thumby arrived today so fit that to the Spa and played about with the bar/stem trying to find something that worked better for my hand. Settled on a bmx stem and two piece riser that I made a while back for my klunker. Set it down a bit lower on the steerer so might trim that up if I get on with it.
