Looks like they replaced the Nox Sensor... "Nox Sensor - Repl Nox Sensor - Cleared Fault Codes", which would explain the £311. I had mine replaced a few months ago on my Berlingo. Seems to be a common problem.
You'll get a adblue warning light on the rev counter and possibly a EML, if it was an adblue problem. You can't really neglect the adblue. If its run out, it will tell you and give you a countdown in miles to the engine not starting.
You should be able to read the codes with a normal reader to get somewhat of an idea. It's just usually certain functions you can't perform without lexia/diagbox. I bought a TopDon ArtiDiag800BT to use on my Berlingo after having to wait weeks for even a diagnostics appt at Citroen. Seems to be able to do most things, recently reinitialised part of the adblue system with it which seemed to fix an intermittent warning light.
Thanks, really useful. I read up on adblue and it revealed the car gives a countdown timer where if it hits zero the engine will refuse to start. Will buy a small bottle & stash it in the boot storage
