Around the time of the GFC I worked on a B2B magazine aimed at high end lawyers. The whole phone hacking/privacy thing was doing the rounds at the time and although our magazine had absolutely fuck all to do with privacy legislation (apart from the actual legal side, obvs) my bellend of an editor would shoehorn the subject into any fucking story he could. Boohoo, us poor journos, etc. He thought he was some kind of ScoopLord when he was in fact a third rate hack scraping the bottom of the B2B barrel, he thought he was running the Washington Post, I've never seen an ego like it. Massive cunt.
Journalists are obsessed with LLMs for the understandable reason that a lot of their low-grade listicle-writing and press-release-rephrasing jobs are at immediate risk.
And there's nothing journalists love more than writing about journalism and things that affect it.
