ublockorigin works in Chrome. Youtube is trickier because the ads are served from the same domains as the videos but there were options like Vanced and stuff. Not sure how effective they are.

Vanced still works perfectly for me. I simply cannot watch YouTube without it now as the ads are just too much. Not on iPhone though so not sure if there's an iOS equivalent
