Mince Pie Appreciation

I've got to cut my wheat/grain intake for intolerance levels so gorging on Greggs this year isn't happening. So as it's going to be a very small amount I can consume (hopefully just for this year), where am I going?

What the absolute best of the best in London? (ideally N&E and not too far south). Thank you.

Had these in their previous iteration/release/drop/last mincemeat season/last year and was impressed.

M&S brown butter - high level for a supermarket pie: good short/crunchy crust. Well filled, but under spiced. Favourite shelf stable one of the year so far.

I have just realised that I have never had a Greggs mincer. Probably need to do something about that.

Hipster bakery in Glasgow wins this years prize. Has frangipan layer aaaand mincemeat. Bravo.

Looks good - but the purist in me says that amount of frangipan must be compensating for something. A top tier MP wouldn't need to go there.

Surely if you're in Glasgow then your main priority should be finding someone who will deep fry a mince pie for you?

Puff pastry mince pie from the bakery section of Morrisons, delicious. 4 for £1. Like an apple turnover with mincemeat? Prefer it to Greggs.

Yesterday I paid £3.50 for a mincer from Yardarm - didn’t even have a pastry lid. Great mince though

Today I had a pannetone pain suisse from Forno and whilst not a mince pie would say it deserves a mention in this thread. Sensational. Should be for £5.50 mind.

Today i had one from pavilion - £2.50 or 4 for £8. Gotta say it’s the best one so far. Great pastry and decent filling. Little too sweet and not enough boozy tang but still for £2 it hits the spot

Pavilion were our first bouj pie of the season. Drowned it in custard though so couldn’t really judge.

Started in on the Lidl mince pies last night, almond and amaretto mince pie was very good, but their basic almond mince pie is slightly better. Wish I'd bought some brandy butter though.

Waitrose florentine number. Looked good. Meh
