  • Head torches seem to be popular with runners so figure this might be the place to ask for a recommendation a usb rechargeable one.

Lots of them, Petzl and Black Diamond in particular appear to be ‘dual fuel’ where they can run off double or triple As or a rechargeable battery which you have to buy separately, I just want a built in rechargeable battery…unless there’s a particular reason to not do this?

Edit: It’s really for seeing while camping/out doing photography at night etc that I want it so don’t think it needs to be particularly bright, red light option would be good.

  • Alpkit quark is meant to be very good, not tried it myself

  • A lot will be 'dual fuel' and think this is due to being used for endurance/ultra events.
Can carry spare battery's and keep going, once the rechargeable one has run down.

    Petzl Bindi

  • Yeah, as @SideshowBob said the hybrid ones are more for the Ultra crowd - if you don't need to be able to run it from AA or AAA batteries then just get a USB-rechargeable one, they're smaller / lighter.

I can still very much recommend the NiteCore NU25 / NU20 Classic.
Very comfortable (you forget it's there), and lights are great - 4 steps / intensities, (more natural) CRI light (which is great for reading for example), plus red light.
