Some updates: Mike from VeloDuo sent across a new pair of stays from his stock but sadly, these too were the wrong shape (if the right width - just). The curve of the stays is still a lot deeper than that of the guards. I emailed Mike about it expressing disappointment at the design flaws by Berthoud, but expressing how amazing his customer service and quality have been so far (because they have) and asking if he'd accept a return.
Anyway, turns out the Berthoud tooling has recently been updated so the new design guards and stays are shallower. Hopefully the new stays will arrive soon and I can be ready for the rainy weather next week!!
