It’s looking increasingly like City have failed to do that, so they are left with a group of 30-something players who are beginning to struggle with niggly injuries. They don’t have ready made replacements for most of them and that’s showing now.
Definitely. I think the biggest mistake they made was not selling Kalvin Phillips (off the back of the Euro's?) when they could have at least minimised the hit on him and would have allowed them to have a succession plan in place for Rodri. The age profile / injuries are also going to bite when the manager likes working with a small squad and Rodri and Haaland won't be dropped, which limits the profile of player you can bring in to play second fiddle.

I hope you're right, but it's the hope that kills you.

I wish we'd played them before they lost their heads though. Or at least that Muric hadn't decided to give them a head start.

Nice to see there are people who are moving on.
I used to go to Oakwell regularly and every time Forest visited, the majority of the home support chanted “SCAB! SCAB! SCAB!” for 90mins.
It’s the coppers and Scargill (mostly the coppers, obviously) where they should direct their ire.

Hammers taking a battering, after only 35 mins! Early days tho

Ha, saw that. Somehow I don't think it's finishing 4-4 or even close.

Red card after 30 seconds in the Libertadores final. Absolute shocker of a challenge.

Anderson was very good today.
Best atmosphere from the home fans this season, Mull of Kintyre really gets blasted out.
The away end wasn't really conducive to a good noise from us.
I thought we matched you well first half but you came out very strongly in the second and managed the game really well after the goal. Murillo and Malinkovic is a hell of a CB partnership, Delap got nothing from them.

Gibbs-White grabs the headlines, but Anderson makes us tick. Just does everything.
Murillo and Milenkovic only cost us £25m which is nuts in the current market. It's such a balanced partnership, Milenkovic is so unflustered and allows Murillo to play his natural game.
I heard you made a good noise today. I think things are coming together for you, the Prem is so brutal compared to the Championship and it's a massive adjustment, but McKenna seems to have found his first XI, has absolute buy in from the players and they are really finding their feet. It will be tight as there is a gap starting to open, but I think you could do it.

We got 5 points from Leicester, Spurs, United and Forest, which is probably what I'd have predicted before those four games, just in a different order. And such fine margins in all the games, it could easily have been 10 points.
It's definitely coming together, and there are players who looked like League One was their ceiling who look every bit like PL players now (Morsy, Burgess).
But if Delap gets injured or suspended before January we're in a bad way, and Tuanzebe went off injured today and he'll be a massive loss because he's been unreal.
If we can get something from Palace on Tuesday it will really help us get back on track.

A highlight from the weekend's action.
At which, point: enter Bradley, haring across from the left, with an energy that stated very clearly this was not a footballer intent on harrying or jockeying or showing Mbappé the outside, but who instead intended to separate Mbappé’s feet, and also the ball, from the Anfield turf.
