Stick your finger down the seat tube and see where the end of the internal "shim" is. If it's above or near the top tube rather than below it, then it's too short and will crack eventually.
Although mine cracked back when I posted the link and I rode it for year. My old neighbour uses it now - just gotta keep an eye on it.
Oh no! It has got a cheap looking shim. I'll check it over and part it out. Must be worth more than £300 in bits?
