  • Have you got pics? I’m currently using static hooks - does the ability to move/slide/overlap save an appreciable amount of space?

  • Awesome, cheers man, this is the plan. Just went through the pain of cleaning the old place and moving a load of crap, still in chaos so this may take a while before I get round to it.

  • Are you selling the track by any chance?

  • I think I had might as well -- I was going to hold on to it until we had re-built the garage (making bigger and more secure/attached to house) but that's a long way down the line so I figure I had might as well get it out of the way during the building works. Where are you based? Only issue will be postage.

  • I'm in Leyton. It's just for 2 or 3 bikes in the basement so 3m might be a bit overkill I guess.

  • Ahh yeah, that'll be tricky -- I'm up on Sheffield.
Did you see the link in another post to the other hangers on ebay? Then you can just use Unistrut I think which is super easy to get hold of.

  • Yeah, prob not worth it. I'll look at DIY and compare to these guys for a complete solution.

  • Spacerail do a freestanding system now:

    https://www.stashedproducts.co.uk/products/spacerail-bike-storage-system-freestanding

I've been looking at their wall mount version for ages.

  • i got the wall mounted one, (x2) when i moved house, only ended up being able to put up one. wish the freestanding had been available then, as I wouldn't have had to do some really sketchy drilling/bolting through insulated plaster board, a void, and into brick I can't see well even from the outside

still absolutely love it though, scrolling through bikes like an athena poster display

  • and freestanding can prob be taller than I was able to do, so my mtbs could have gone on it... goddamn.

  • Yeah, good point. I think I'm ok for MTB length bikes but depends how long the wall brackets are and how high it could be fitted.

Looks like 335mm from top of wall mount to hook

Assuming the Scott is ~192cm long, I should have 15-20cm to play with with the wall mounted version.

  • Not my best work but here are two quick pics. If you alternate the bikes you can get them pretty close together which is helpful for locking them up, plus I can slide two bikes to one side and then have plenty room to put up/take down a third bike.

I've got two motorbikes, three bicycles and a workbench across a standard 3m garage width with room to stand at the bench (you can just see the pillar drill on the right side), plus spare wheels above the motorbikes. There's a lot in there but its not tidy!

  • No that's really useful - kicks the shit out of what I have going on right now in a similar space!

  • I have shared this before a few pages back but I really do not recommend that flat roofed Asgard shed I have. It's absolutely shit, especially at the current price point. Gets soaked inside and the latest is the handle has just decided to come off

  • Fucking hell. I’ve been psyching myself up to drop the £600+ for one of these. Back to the drawing board?
I’m thinking of doing a DIY lean-to with a ground anchor. Anyone done similar? I’m currently using a soft cover which just gets blown off and covered in fox piss.

  • Not DIY, but I've got a green-roof type thing with open sides. Partly because a full metal shed wouldn't fit, but also to avoid the condensation problems of them and plastic covers.

  • Have a scroll back through the thread. This one is good https://www.lfgss.com/comments/17521523/

  • Yeah when I get some time I’ll have a good look through. Mine won’t look anywhere near this good, I’ll be too embarrassed to post it here

  • That’s cool, I like it. Are the bikes locked to an anchor point?

  • Yeah, ground anchor and an Almax chain from when they were still in business.

  • Read somewhere that the handle are designed to come off without damaging the mechanism if forced. Obs you’ve not done that in this case but you should get a replacement from them.

  • Made a start on a living roof for my Asgard shed. Cut up some old fence panels I had spare and have assembled a basic structure. Wondering what else I need to consider in terms of drainage or any further struts on the bottom to secure? Does anyone have any advice or experience?

Thinking of also putting some vertical struts on the non-house side and making some planters for some creepers or similar

  • What's the plan for lining it? My Brighton bike shed is kind of "tanked" with a rubber membrane that is raised on three sides and open at the lowest point at the back to allow drainage, then it has a layer of the black planter fabric stuff before filling with the soil / gravel stuff.

  • First/at the bottom, a drainage layer, then a growing medium or substrate layer, then sedum or actual seeds on topsoil, depending on what you're going for.

    These guys are good

  • I saw a nice hike-bin shed the other day with a living roof.

They had a couple of copper pipes coming out the side of the top for water overflow. Which I thought was a cute touch.
