  • The Baja 1000 race ran finished the day before I left Tecate so the northern sections have been rough as fuck. It’s been fun but I’m hoping it gets a shade smoother from here.

The views and the people have been great. Vegetarian food out is surprisingly hard to get although I have very limited Spanish so maybe I’m just an idiot.

  • Looks amazing, I’m dreaming of being back on the trail.

I think chilaquiles are about the only veggie option we found in restaurants - otherwise eggs/rice/beans. I’m sure you’ve had your fair share packet frijoles with tortillas by now, pretty much the perfect bikepacking food.

If you go to a Ley supermarket they usually have soy chorizo and sometimes tofu.

Food gets much better once you hit the mainland - look out for gorditas de nopal (masa pouch stuffed with cactus leaves).

  • Thanks for the reply - good tip on the chilaquiles! I’ve been managing to eat in restaurants a bit more as my Spanish/miming has improved which is nice.

A couple more photos (sorry for clogging the thread!)
