  • So I haven't ridden my 2017 supersix disc (1st gen) since January.

I was knocked off it and it was written off due to a fucked creaky BB - scanned and no structural damage - but the shop were just unable to fix the creak.

I bought the parts as it was my favourite ever bike and intend to put it on a wall.

Rode it this morning as my other bike is being serviced and just forgot how brilliant it is. Incredible ride, comfy, fast, great handling. With DI2 it would be my perfect bike.

Long story short, if anyone sees one or a hi mod in a 60 let me know...

Cannondale for life, apart from the stupid as duck PF30A and QR rear disc.

  • nice.

though nothing wrong with a QR wheel imo

  • Just needs more adjustment and if really pushing it sometimes get a bit a brake rubbing but in the grand scheme it's not bad aye.

  • Have you tried a screw together style BB in your Evo? Seemed to solve any creaky issues on mine.

  • I have and no dice. However I haven't tried a true one-piece. I need to speak to the insurers and check I can actually insure it if I spend 2-300 on one and it fixes the issue.

    Otherwise there's not much point

  • Pull it apart including bearings. Strip it to bare frame, clean with alcohol or brake cleaner. Refit bearings using Loctite 741 or 609. Plenty grease. Never had creak since I used the Loctite.

  • Those of you being on insta:

Last week I started my own cannondale appreciation account

    @caadastrophe

which will feature cannondale only content but limited to content thats aesthetically pleasing and (ideally) informative

    Appreciate any follow/share

If you have nice projects/frames/items with good quality photos hmu

    Cheers

  • Had this. Tried everything.

Then did up the rear QR verrrrry tightly.

    Now no noise. Might work?

  • Did that already, but happy to try anything and everything. Will also try the more detailed work once I have tools for it.

  • Does anyone have a lead for momo handlebars? Specifically, 120 x 380 flavour

  • shit pic but 'done' for now - favourite bars on with spare tape badly wrapped. Really like it and am happily riding it daily - will have a look out for a frame to swap the parts to when it gets a bit warmer :)

  • big fan of that build dude. Good work

  • Fan too, very apt 1x rat. Forks ?

  • My winter bike that I haven’t yet summoned up the energy to winterise. Ten years old yet somehow feels incredibly primitive tech. Fun though.

Unrelatedly, what’s a ballpark price for a 2015 Supersix Evo (non hi-mod) F&F in 7/10 condition? Am I right in thinking these fit 25s only if you were lucky?

  • primitive tech ? does it not have the fission drive propulsion system ? or the anti gravity cranks ? or the graphene chain ?

  • primitive tech

It even has hydro disc brakes...

  • try riding a caad3 !

  • This is really good.

  • Yep, and that was with old school rims, you can barely fit a 23 in some of them with modern rims.
I wouldn’t pay more than about £300 for a frameset tbh. The Hi-mod ones are pretty exclusively hill climb fodder nowadays

The 2019 S6 with the straight forks had way better clearance, 32s pretty easy with some rims

  • Thanks all!!! Chuffed with it :)

Forks are from a super basic trek (domane?) (thanks @jackoliver) - I've got the originals but they flexed quite a lot, where 20 years old, and my teeth are characterful enough.

  • Current iteration. I found a good price on a Columbus fork that came raw, so it needs paint and the frame is a candidate for a respray too.

I'm not sure about the silver components still. Would a different pop of colour work better? Maybe a blue?

If anyone wants the old fork (CAAD12), they are welcome to it. Disclaimer: I am worried there is a tiny crack in the steerer. Pm if you want photos. I would feel happy riding it with an epoxied aluminum insert made to fit snug instead of a compression plug, but don't have access to a lathe.
