  • Anyone else’s cat go mental for bread? Fleur never gets any human food but whenever you sit down for a sarnie she’s up in your face pawing for it.

  • Our cat only goes mad for nutritional yeast, he's bougie

  • One of ours decided yesterday that a used peppermint tea bag was an item of interest.

She delicately fished it out of a mug, then licked and eventually chewed it until the mint leaves came out. All the while sneezing and wiping her nose with her paw.

    Quite curious/ funny to watch.

  • I knew a cat who went bananas for toast

  • I have two cats who go bananas for toast.

  • If it fits etc

  • That's quite the light you caught there 🙌

  • My poor boy in the vet's with a blocked urethra today. Just noticed last night that he was trying to pee anywhere and having no luck then vommed up a huge amount of food, typically at 10pm with a red weather warning incoming, luckily found a local place open today. Chances are he might need a catheter.

I know the chances are fairly low, and they have to caveat it, but when the vet mentioned there's a chance he won't survive sedation I nearly welled up. He's 8 but I expected to have him in my life for a few more years yet.

  • Sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed for you and the puddly

  • Sorry to hear ^^

Loki got his head in a cereal bowl for yoghurt scrapes earlier in the week. I expected a day or so of loose poop but thischasnt subsided and is very liquid today. Thankfully contained in litter tray each time at present.

He's due at vets for neutering on Tuesday, hoping this won't affect things? I guess I should ring the vets really.

In other news, a rarely seen "cat actually using cat bed" pic.

  • This is a lovely picture. Printable/Frameable memory type of thing imo.

  • Well blockage is cleared, he's out of sedation and he's hauled up in pet hospital for the night while they monitor and hydrate. Going to have to try and keep him in for the next few weeks to monitor liquid ins and outs.

Also going to have to think about how to keep him stress free, they called it stress cystitis, an inflammation of the bladder brought on by stress. My mum visited yesterday with her dog, mother-in-law does the same too sometimes, and then there were the winds from Darrah, which always make him act scatty, plus who knows what interactions with other neighborhood cats.

  • He cannot keep away from it 😆

  • Yay to cleared up, hope it doesn't happen again.

  • He's home and had one successful piss! Now considering a fountain in a bid to try and get him to drink more water. Anyone had success with those? The prospect of throwing away disposable plastic filter cartridges every few weeks doesn't appeal very much.

Mucky eyes look worse than they are by the way, he's on eye drops too, I'll give him a clean at some point.

  • Some cats like fountains, some don't. Might as well try it.

Has the vet put him on the special wet food for urinary care? Mine was on that for the whole time.

  • Not as yet. Just moved him to regular wet food with added water for now. I think maybe that's more for stones and the like, as this was triggered by stress I just have to keep him hydrated and relaxed hopefully.

  • Mine was put on it because she got UTIs from stress. There was a feral cat, probably her brother, which stressed her out by wanting to be friends. He would wait outside the door and spray. He was lovely but she was paranoid about other cats coming in and stealing her food. So I caught him and got him rehomed by a cat rescue charity.

  • Sounds like a good result! The neighbours' cats might play a part in the stress, not a lot I can do about that. My mother bought her dog round on Friday which I might have to think twice about allowing again. They didn't meet but he was aware she was downstairs at one point. Also the crazy weather put the frighteners up him I think.

  • Glad it turned out OK! Hope he'll be 100% again soon. We had a cat that suffered from the same, but had to have his penis amputated in order to have a proper piss...

  • thank you 🙏🏼 and @damskodonny
