  • Anyone doing this one?

Think I’m going to give it a whack as my first ‘race’ experience.

  • Nice riding round there.

  • I would have loved to, but have decided to do Chase the Sun that weekend instead.

Bit cheeky, but if you'd be prepared to share the route I'd love to do it under my own steam some time.

  • Yeah haha totally will share it no worries!

  • Just signed up to this. First “race” experience for me as well, on gravel at least. Now to get the gravel bike built up in time!

  • Ah niiiiiice! Should be fun, looking forward to seeing the gpx

  • I'm down for this. I did the recce ride last year which was the first 120km or so and the did most of the last bit another time. Should be a great event!

Will be my first time riding >200 km, why not do it on gravel eh. No idea how to prepare.

  • Ah wicked, didn’t know it was out there.

And yeah same - it’ll be fiiiiiiiiiiiine. I’m just semi-actively trying to ramp up KMs with the weekly long grav ride that I have time for. As well as doing some regular track bike interval-y kinda stuff for fixed 42 prep, so hoping that translates across.

@hollow__legs ah sweet more lufguss folks doing it that’s cool! I cycled a wee bit around there doing the king Alfred’s way route last year, it’s nice!

I opted for the camping that they surprise released a couple weeks ago - glad my disorganisation meant I hadn’t already booked an Airbnb

  • @jaeyukdapbap your neck of the woods, you like to go off road. at the very least you could nick the route!

  • Or at least meet for a pint

  • Pint and a hand job? Colour me interested.

  • When is this?

    EDIT: https://www.hotchillee.com/events/stone-circle-gravel/

    24 June 2023

Race the summer solstice on this epic gravel adventure through druid Britain.

Starting at dawn from the historic hilltop fort of Old Sarum, the route will pass the iconic landmark of Stonehenge as you embark on this monumental adventure. The challenge … to race the solstice sun and finish before night falls.

The Ekoi Stone Circle brings the fast rolling feel of iconic US gravel races to the UK in this truly unique 215km event. A 135km route option is also available, where e-bikes are also welcome to take part.

Expect a variety of terrain over the gruelling course. As well as the distraction of the stunning views and historical landmarks, there will be plenty of opportunities to stick it in the big ring and find a fast rolling group to make the kilometres fly by.

Starting and finishing on the edge of Salisbury with free parking on-site, direct rail links from London and other cities, plus close proximity to Heathrow and Gatwick, it’s easily accessible for both UK and international riders.

  • Is this route all on public/permanently accessible land? Would like to give it a go separate to the organised event

  • Have some pics to whet appetites

So, which one would you ride, hippy?
Um, let me think about that and get back to you...

  • It was a really nice ride tbf.
The weak attempt at a ‘party’ the day before the ride and afterwards was shit though.
Bad PA system playing house music that drowned out any of the organisers who tried to give information out via a microphone, ‘free pizza’ that was woefully ill equipped to serve everyone there, and 3/4s of the vendors had left before the ride day had ended meaning people (myself included) were getting back to Old Sarum to a sort-of shell of a campsite with nothing really around to eat or drink

Maybe will be better now it’s ran locally…

  • The ride was great and the feed stations were excellent. I got back around 5pm I think, had some pizza and a couple of pints then packed up the tent and went home :)

Definitely doing it again. Disappointed the medium route is slightly shorter but I get why they've done it to give a slightly better spread of distance

  • I might be keen, as it would be an excuse to buy a gravel bike.
