  • Spuds are such a weird team.

  • Even Spurs aren't messing this up.

  • City just cannot defend at the moment and they have missed quite a few chances, many Haarland would normally slot away.

  • Dr Spurs.

  • Pep out

  • City’s form completely out of the window as well.

  • oh dear, some fans on the liverpool forums are already planning which lampost to stand by for the end of season parade

    calm down lahs

  • Not on any I've been on. They're mostly still expecting City to go on a run of 10 or 15 straight wins at some point.

  • yup it's inevitable isn't it. i'm thinking of putting a £1 on a southampton win today* !

*don't bet peeps you never see a poor bookie, my last bet was in the early 2000's for the record.

  • First half running the line (in many years) for daughter's U15 team. Takes a lot of mental energy to keep track of everything. Level with the last defender? Check. This is easy. Shit, who kicked the ball last as it has gone out, ref is looking at me. Will I trip over the dog that's the wrong side of the respect line? Oppo's knee was probably offside there but we're only calling it when it's obvious. Having to tell my daughter to stop trying to steal 10 yards on each throw (5 is acceptable). Etc.

  • Having to tell my daughter to stop trying to steal 10 yards

Looking for the unfair advantage at U15. She’ll go far!

(My favourite was rolling the ball back two yards on free kicks as the ref marched out 10 yards to set the wall).

  • Been doing it for a few seasons now. It gives you a new respect for the proper match officials, it is not easy. Wait til you start getting abuse from the other team's parents :(

I'm currently benched after pulling my hamstring doing it 3 weeks ago

  • Takes a lot of mental energy

Completely, I feel quite drained afterwards. And if done properly, you don't actually take in the game you've gone to watch very well because you're always looking across the line. My concentration is poor and I get distracted by goals on other pitches, gulls and pretty dogs.

Yeah, I score for my daughters cricket team. That's 4h+ of having to pay attention to the umpires, the boundary rope, the fielders, the running between the wickets and unable to actually watch the teams batting/bowling. It's only when she plays for an older age group or another team she trains with that I get to sit back and actually watch.

Big shout out to all of the parents/volunteers that do this week in week out.

  • that hypothetical £1 bet was looking good for a while !
mo to the rescue. give him a new contract asap

  • Steve Cooper sacked. 16th after 12 games, had to sell their best player and was given very little money to spend, which was made even harder with a potential points deduction hanging over the clubs head. What exactly are the owners expecting him to do?

  • Indeed. However, I think Cooper, who i do like, does run people up the wrong way sometimes behind the scenes.

  • Fire alarm at Stockley Park lol.

  • His post-match interview yesterday was a car crash, just ranting about the referee and other decisions that have gone against them. He sounded a bit like he'd lost the plot then, and it might be that he's not really bringing the team along with him.

You'd assume it would have to be something behind the scenes, because they're in a respectable position now given the step up and the change of manager.

Their fans were still salty when they won the league though, so perhaps the ownership has similarly unrealistic expectations.

  • Speaking of a big step up, I'm disappointed we've only got a point from United after that performance.

I would only have dreamed of writing that a few years ago. Cameron Burgess must be pinching himself, he looks like a Premier League centre half now, at the start of 2022-23 he wasn't first choice in League One.
