I have been to an absolute bonkers place this week in Bangkok. It's like somebody thought they
mix fine dining and a school canteen and make it all you can eat. It's called Copper and has a few branches around the city. You buy a ticket which reserves you a table for 2 hours and then you run around the place picking plates from service stations or ordering from the ala carte menu at small booths and they bring it to your table.
I still can't believe that it was actually real.
Probably not the kind of place you go to on your first visit to Bangkok though.
Some pictures and a link to the menu. -

If you're still in bangkok, this streetfood stall doing duck noodles is very high on a list of best things I've ever eaten: https://maps.app.goo.gl/yuLbtwSMsudfdkWb9

Great story here, where not to eat

Chop Chop in the hippodrome is a surprisingly great option for dinner. Pleasant room, great service and the roast meats were head and shoulders the best I've had in chinatown (4 seasons group, so no surprise). Reasonably priced, fun walking through the casino to get there, loved it.

Steak places in and around Victoria/pimlico/belgravia sides. Not super pricey but good quality meat for a dads night out.

Any suggestions for a date night/anniversary dinner next week in east or central? Rochelle Canteen fully booked.
Thinking about Kiln at this point

Went to Blanchette last night, food was great and nice cosy vibes.

Toklas last night was great, I’m not a vegetarian but the roast winter vegetables were spot on, service was great and we went through a few wines to taste before choosing, they also gave us a bit of birthday fizz and and an extra candle adorned dessert. Partner loved it which was the main priority. Standout was the cherry/chocolate dessert though I couldn’t fault any of it.
It’s pretty relaxed there and not some posh fine dining experience but that’s one of the reasons we liked it, table next door had the tarte tatin which is £20 and an off menu order, will have to try that if/when we are back as a 4 -

Zelman meats?

I went to Behind for lunch and it was excellent. Imagine dinner would be equally good but more expensive.

Cheers folks - Toklas looks banging

Anywhere decent in the vicinity of Victoria/Westminster/Waterloo that won't run to more than 20pp for food? My usual go-to there is the pizza chains (can't go too wrong) and current frontrunner is Bapjo but just wondering if there's anything I'm missing.

Cross post from food thread...
Client dinner next Thursday. Nothing ridiculous - probably £75-100 a head.
The only guidance they gave is they are 'carnivorous'. Recommendations centrally? I'm by Regents Park so don't want to travel too far.

All the soho joints would work right? Blacklock, Flat Iron, Zelman, Red Dog Saloon, temper, Gaucho, Hawksmoor.
-
• #2291
Blacklock seems to fit the bill. Hawksmoor doesn’t really miss either for client dining.
Berenjak could be an interesting option. Devonshire if you manage to get a table.
Marleybone - Lurra, St John, The Wigmore, Beast all seem like potential options

I’d go for Blacklock, Hawksmoor, Beast or Berenjak if it were me

Beast
Is it a nice place?
The website looks like it was made by Andrew Tate…

I went admittedly a number of years ago and wouldn’t go off my own volition but it’s sort of fun and ridiculous and seemed to fit the brief

Any recommendations for restaurants in Frankfurt, vegetarian would be good . Cheers

In Chinatown tomorrow and wanting to get a Chinese. I have four restaurants saved in my google maps, right by the theatre we are going to. Don’t know why I saved them but they are: Cafe TPT, Ermie Sichuan, Royal China and Four Seasons.
Any better out of them or one to miss?
-
• #2297
Four Seasons is great for roast/bbq meat on rice if that's your thing.
TPT is one of my faves and is a solid choice for Hawker style food. My go to is the Malaysian Fried Ho Fun.

Food House (the sign outside might say something else, but it should show up on Google maps, possibly as Real Beijing) has a great Szechuan menu
-
• #2299
They are all decent but also different. The royal china is the least good offshoot of the royal china brand.
Four seasons I think isn’t as good as it used to be but still cranks out a good plate of roast meat and rice.
I’d probably go to cafe tpt but think it’s the smallest of the lot.Not been to the sichuan place but if I wanted that style I would go to Jinli

Thanks for the reccos guys, went to TPT, it was indeed very good! Anyone know what that dish is that basically seems to look like rice with grilled cheese on top?!
Jay Rayner has, review is on his website.
