  • I hate the wire off Amazon.

I saw a vid a few days ago, some bloke got suss about his Chinese banana plug (or maybe they were alligator clip) leads, and found they had significantly higher resistance than expected. Soldering the crimped ends didn't help. Then he realised they may not actually be copper, and sure enough, they were ferrous, attracted to a magnet.

Copper-plated steel, tiny little strands of it. Maybe enshittification is what will bring down civilisation

  • Hmm yea I’d say that sounds about right.

Anyway that Pachislo got sold on. I did every broken trace I could find, and had all other continuity, but could only get 2 of 3 reels going. Something maybe a cap was no good, and I ran out of interest. Sold it for what it cost me to a guy who works for a company that does electronics so I guess he’ll rip out all the repairs and do it properly.

At some point I’ll find the other projects at mum and dad’s that I piled up for a rainy day. This damn rescue dog has killed me, not a moment to myself for nearly 2 months now.
