The guy who looked after my 850R had a very low opinion of them - said that to get a driveshaft from the engine to the rear wheels in a FWD body shell they had to make said driveshaft so narrow that even with standard engine power you could wreck it with hard standing starts.
I imagine that once rolling you would be at much lower risk, but apparently the danger under heavy load was still present.
