  • be stationary by the side of the road most of the time

Isn’t this most cars if you think about it?

  • I'm tempted my a high mileage 2l accord at the mo.

  • Alfa Romeo / Lexus / Audi / Mercedes / BMW / Volvo all more interesting and desirable.

Maybe more desirable, but other than Alfa come on, none of them are more interesting. They all pretty dull.

Ok maybe BMW too I guess.

  • I like the new jag branding.

I think the ad is fine too. Car ads are usually gash as fuck.

This feels like a 90s pirelli ad fucked an early ipod ad.

    It's great.

  • Tell me that’s real

  • I remember it.

  • Some of the twitter responses were LoL

  • Personal taste innit...

To be honest I really don't like BMW all that much but I do think Lexus make some fantastic cars in that segment, likewise the Volvo V90 is fantastic... Audi RS and Merc AMG are still the best fast saloon and estate cars by a long shot.

  • I love a rover 75. Seats so comfortable

  • I’d take an MG ZT (75) V8 260 estate if you’re offering. A mate had one with a supercharger and 450hp, a real sleeper.

  • The Jaguar rebrand doesn't feel like it's aimed at traditional Jaguar customers - but then, they're not buying Jaguars so a bit of a shift and refocus sounds like a good idea.

Jaguar feels like it has been a bit lost for decades now - it made large, powerful saloons until Ford bought it and then we had a more expensive, shitter Mondeo wearing a Jaguar hat, and a more expensive, shitter Lincoln wearing a Jaguar hat.

Then I admit I just lost touch with what it was doing, although the F-type looked quite fun it had a V6.

Maybe the issue was that they presented as luxury but it was a volume car in a cheap suit, and the image even then was more Farage than anything else.

I've owned a number of AMG estates, and really enjoyed them - so maybe I'm the target market for Jaguar? If so, I don't feel like there's been any attempt to connect with me and persuade me that my next car should be a Jaguar.

Anyway, not sure where I'm going with this other than what they've been doing hasn't been working, so they may as well try something new.

  • I like the 75 too.

I like that the rear reg plates are a nice shape that fills the space pleasingly.

  • Ah the ford Mustang engine.
Always wanted one, and all car people should. Converted floor pan to rear wheel drive V8, and handled really well.

Wasn't a version of this engine used in one of the konnigs?

Did your mate get the one engine modded or did they swap a later ford engine in?

  • IIRC Simon used the original engine and a Rotrex style charger. It sounded awesome whatever he’d done to it.

  • The guy who looked after my 850R had a very low opinion of them - said that to get a driveshaft from the engine to the rear wheels in a FWD body shell they had to make said driveshaft so narrow that even with standard engine power you could wreck it with hard standing starts.

I imagine that once rolling you would be at much lower risk, but apparently the danger under heavy load was still present.

  • I don't really care about why Jaguar is rebranding... But why create such a generic, appliance like logo?

  • That is it, generic appliance logo fits perfectly IMO.

  • As the ford v8 was fitted to lincons and the Jag V8 engine was also fitted to some lincons thought about an engine and box swap in to the rover as Jag had the better zf box and 500bhp.

The idea being using normal of the shelf parts and no fabrication of parts and modding of the rover body shell.

  • So we’re in agreement the Rover 75 is the best car ever.

  • Did princess Anne have one?

  • If you listen to marketing bollocks you get sucked in. Is it not Tata anyway?

  • I hear the rebrand is all just an elaborate ploy to try and make Americans pronounce the name correctly.
