  • I might go for these:
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/uncn-Rechargeable-Fingerless-Touchscreen-Electric/dp/B0C77XB49R/ref=sr_1_7?

I like that "The heated gloves are available in two versions: one will automatically turn off in 30 minutes, another in 1 hour, and you may receive it randomly."
    Fun! 😃

  • I have a pair of those and they're great in the dry. Didn't have cold fingers this morning for an hour of (quite slow) regents laps in feels like -3. I agree with the road cc review RE wet weather performance. But honestly I ain't riding if it's freezing cold and bucketing it down...

  • I'm thinking of getting these,

I've got these. Wore them for some cold rides last winter, starting with an audax where it never got above 5 degrees and was very wet all morning. My hands survived. They are not bad gloves, probably my best winter ones nowadays.

  • I rarely wear gloves at all but I do have the odd problem that my little and ring fingers get very cold well before the rest of my hands. I got it really wrong today, should have put my gloves back on, by the time I got home I had four very painful and semi-numb fingers. I think I will have to cut 2 fingers and the thumb out of some gloves and see how that goes.

  • Just seen some random instagram post and it seems spear fishing gloves by Cressi are much better made and cheaper than cycling equivalents, might be worth a look for some wet weather commuting.

  • Think these are the Showa gloves mentioned above? Different number code so maybe there are more than one set considered cross-over-worthy... sound interesting and worth a try for the cash in either the industrial blue or the pricier outdoors-centric black!

  • An Alaskan fisherman says this in the comments:

"The setup we use in both winter and summer is the un-insulated version of Atlas gloves and and a light cotton liner. You will stay just as warm as the insulated version, but you when your hands get damp you can switch out liners. Fresh liners basically gives you a new glove feel, even if the pvc glove is damp. It’s a way better set up than the insulated Atlas.
You can get both glove and liner on Amazon. Go with a size larger on the gloves to fit the liner.
    Glove – SHOWA Atlas 620
    Liner – Ansell ThermaKnit 78-101"

    Worth a look!

  • Showa gloves are getting a bit of a cult following in winter climbing as an alternative to mega expensive and not-very-durable goretex ones. I’ve also tried the Galibier ones above and found there was an awkward seam right over my ulnar nerve, but may not be an issue in bigger sizes

  • Just picked up these but haven't had a chance to road test them yet. Only major qualm initially is the lack of size options

  • These are great gloves. They've been my go to gloves for non freezing, non pissing down weather for a couple of years. Surprisingly warm and showerproof.

  • I have some Showa gloves but they are too small to fit a liner glove inside and you can't get the XXL size in the UK

  • I don't know how that model performs, I only read reviews about the 282

  • Recently tried some Assos Ultraz winter gloves. Lovely quality, but after a couple of rides they weren’t really as warm as I’d hoped for. (I now have an XXL pair in exc. condition to sell, if anyone is interested)

I’ve ordered some of these Agu lobster mitts instead, which I hope will work a bit better for me. I thought about some of the gore split mitts, but i prefer to brake two fingers on my commuter

  • Whilst I've not had them in a downpour, these Endura gloves have remained warm and dry for me. They also fit merino liners underneath if it's baltic! They do suffer from turning inside out if you whip them off too quickly, but once you learn how to take them off it's no big deal.

  • I've ordered a couple of pairs of the Ansell mentioned above as liner gloves - sound like they could be decent by themselves and two pairs for a tenner made them worth a try. May see about getting some Showa 620s to go over them for that baked Alaskan hands vibe!

  • I shall be wearing these tonight. As the stolen goat summer full fingers were a bit chilly at -4 this morning on their own.
As you can see they are UCI approved too…

  • I have a set of the 2.5mm ones which I found in a charity shop. They're good but not warmer than regular gloves at all

  • Lots of options. In the Atlas in winter I was using Decathlon merino liner gloves, under my normal Spesh mitts, with RAB Power Stretch Pro Contact long finger gloves over them.

Normally I'd use the Spesh Primaloft gloves, either the lobster version or Spesh Element 1.5 "normal" version.

  • Amazon have the endura strike gloves down to 25 quid today ten quid cheaper than the rest of the uk.

  • I have a pair of these and quite like them. They're no good for me when it's properly cold (probably will be for most though) and they're definitely not properly waterproof. Definitely worth a punt for that price!

  • i've been using a windproof glove from mountain warehouse for the last 10 years or so. on my third-ish pair now. slightly fleecy, nice and warm not too thick and the windproof layer keeps your hands from cooling via wind chill. they can get a little sweaty inside once you warm up and they've been good for all but the very coldest days, when i break out a pair of berghaus mountaineering gloves.

    i think these are they

haven't bought a pair in a few years but they look similar.

  • Yeah, those are the ones I meant. The 282 and 281 (unlined version). Don’t know where I got the 812 from lol.
