@SideshowBob
Interesting, thanks. Started in with episode 2 (Late Bronze Age Collapse) and it certainly doesn't sound as if he's going to blame it all on the Sea People. -

Yeah that about right. I love a good ghost story so I'm probably a bit forgiving about some of it.

Lol! What happened to it though? It's completely disappeared.

Radio 4's More or Less is discussing the numbers behind the tax receipts of the super rich.
Thought it might be the sort of thing folks here would be into.

The new Coming Storm is great stuff.
Wasn't sure it was as good as S1, but it's picking up.

Just started on the Luiniverse. Its a brilliant science podcast (mainly space themed).
An added bonus is thar Charles Lui sounds like the American scientist character from the Fast Show

Didn't realise there was a season 2. Thanks for the heads-up

I’m looking for a new podcast. I drive for about 2/4 hours per day.
I like comedy but would also like to learn something. Doesn’t need to be both.
I listen to;
The rest is history
The rest is politics
Getting curious
Pretty curious
Oh god what now

Had a conversation with a friend this morning he was extolling the virtues of audio books. Maybe that’s the way to go

BITD my dad had a similar amount of driving and used to do audiobooks.
Is radio 4 an option? That way you've got someone else curating things for you.
I notice origin story is not on your list. Also the Lazarus Heighst if you haven't listened to it.

Ones I'd recommend
99% Invisible
Slow Burn
Decoder Ring
Stuff the British Stole
Things Fell Apart
Origin Story
Jam Tomorrow
Search Engine
Fall of Civilisations

Haven't listened to it in a while but early episodes of The Dollop fits the bill. Good mix of long, funny, historical. Their short episode on the Ford Pinto is a nice taster.
Some other good intro episodes are listed in the comments here:

I was doing 4hrs+ driving a day a for a couple of years. Have a trawl back through this thread for recommendations I made at the time.

I wonder if there's a unique search phase we could add when we post lists?
That way you could always search within a thread and retrieve lists.
(I realise there is a social discussion element too, but like if you just wanted to quick look up recommendations).

I think the hosts could be a bit marmite, but i enjoy If Books Could Kill - a pretty irreverent takedown of ‘airport books’. You’ll learn stuff but it’s not too heavy.

A lot of the time a podcast has interesting subject matter that is dragged down by annoying hosts.
I think 'If Books Could Kill' has a good balance between good research and good delivery. I'm particularly impressed with the camp guy, seems super smart, has a very succinct way of pinpointing things. -

yeaaah.....
I've listened to nearly every episode of BTB, but the host just doesn't have the interesting personality that he thinks he has. It seems as if he grew up in a very restrictive right wing, religious environment, which to him means that anything he can come up with that breaks with that tradition is somehow worth making a big deal about.
Really, in terms of booze/drugs/sex/general slacker attitude he's about average compared to the LFGSS members I've met on forum rides. -

Strong recommend for Well There's Your Problem.
Its a podcast about engineering disasters. Think the Costa Concordia episode
is a good intro... -

Just in case of any interest, the Escape Collective Members' Only podcast feed is available to non-members if listened to via the Castbox app. No idea why that is the case, but I only discovered this recently when looking for an alternative way to listen while my wife was using our Spotify account. Quite enjoyed the recent 'Skyfall' episode

The BBC podcast "Cover" is doing Stakenife (Freddie Scappatici) and it's good. The second episode is mostly around a former member of the IRA, whose brother was executed by the IRA as an informer (Scappatici's area) and who promised his mother that he'd invesitage his brother's death. A story you don't often hear from a voice you don't often hear.

Thoroughly enjoyed part 2 of Warlords of the West TRIH

I don't want to spoil anything, but a great e.g. of powerful women in history.

There's also a cool one I listened to the other day about the fixed gears thoughts on AI.
