This old girl had to go to the vet on Monday for some dental work. After 15 years of great teeth her age means her gums are receding and two upper molars have gone bad so had to come out. She last had a general anaesthetic aged 2, and now she’s a few months shy of 16. She had blood and heart tests and they all came back good so we went ahead with it. It was so bloody nerve-wracking, we spent all of Sunday making a fuss of her just in case, but we took her in at 8.15, though leaving her at the vet was tough.
But all went well and we got the call at 1.30pm that she was fully awake and the surgery had gone well and we could pick her up at 3. The only downer was that the vet found a growth under her tongue. He removed it and just to be sure it’s been sent off to pathology, although the vet said he’s pretty sure it’s non-malignant.
But for now it’s no kibble for 5 days so lots of soup and lick-e-lix. She’s been so affectionate since she got back, we only have to go near her and she starts purring, which is sweet. But I don’t want to have to go through that again in a hurry.
