Refresh the petrol, charge the battery, hit the button - you'll be fine.

Generally Japanese bikes are always a bit under sprung for the weight of the average Japanese person. I always upped the oil weight a bit when rebuilding forks. If you think you’re gonna overhaul them completely, @Jung isn’t wrong, emulators made a LOT of difference.
That’s until you get bored and switch completely to cartridge stuff.

Where are you?

Fork oil is a interesting fluid and people have lots of opinions.
I mentioned ATF as that was the oil specified on my super (wet) dream honda of a similar age but that was almost 30 years ago and the bike was shit.

Yeah - under sprung and under damped. They're often progressive springs too, which I hate.
Even without the emulators, straight rate springs for your weight and 15w oil is normally a really good upgrade. -

But progressive springs look cool.

Good time to buy because stuff so slow, and you can get stuff for decent money.

Got some heated grips yesterday after them getting lost in the post, got them fitted up and harness routed before the plastic connectors immediately fell off and shorted. Had already glued the grips so can’t even return them.
All crimped up now so probably more secure then they would have been normally but probably the highest frustration to complexity ratio I’ve had from any bike tinkering.

Ah yes, Oxford…

Fucking progressives! Linear all the way. I’ve upped all my forks to 15w, the Honda really liked that.

I've just ordered a fresh rigout from Akinmoto in their Black Friday sale.
I went for the jacket in black as I've only recently gotten a Jane Motorcycles Mahwah Anorak in Natural... I don't need more than white-ish moto jacket :)Jacket and pants came to €356 incl. postage. Impossibly good value for gear that's as good as anything the big name brands are selling at multiples of the price. Great waterproofing and removable thermal liner.
Highly recommend checking them out if you need some new all round ADV / Touring gear and don't want to look like a crash test dummy.

On the honda? Valve kit and springs on the forks meant going to 5w oil! and re valve with adjusters fitted and spring change on the standard shock. Meant I could set the sag for heavy fucker as I have heavy leathers and helmet ;)

Shocked to see it... surely they'll get a buy in from India / China overlords?
-

Dunno which bike that is, but on my manual this CBR is standard with 10w. Even with full compression, it bottoms out. 15w took care of that.

Saw it had gone from eBay. Did it go in the end?

Yeah, a lovely gent local ish to me came and saw it in the flesh. Understandably he wanted to view it before committing. I'd barely opened the garage and he was thrusting a cash deposit in my hand! He could tell right away that it was mint and just wanted it.
Delighted it's going to proper motorbike enthusiast. He's well into his 70s and has been riding over 60 years! He's returning tomorrow with a friend with a van to collect it. Bitter/sweet for me as I've loved riding it, but I'm delighted with my Thruxton which wouldn't have been possible without selling the monkey. -

It is a bothersome thing in my life that I only have room for one motorcycle.
As a result this machine - which I've had three years of fun out of - is on eBay. A forum discount to a forum buyer, of course.

Anyone know what the base is?

A guess, it looks a bit like an older Suzuki GSXR frame.
