On the other hand I've used OnGuard Pitbull (14mm) and Brute (16.8mm) locks for years and not had one seize up

I did have to chip some ice off the keyhole to get it open this morning though

No, it looks like this with a longer shackle
I do have a feeling I had one of those locks too though and the keys on this image look different. Maybe I should have another hunt around to make sure I don't have any other keys and I'm not using the wrong key

Interesting! They must be better than the Magnums I'm used to. Having said that, my experience is from when I worked at a bike subscription company. I can't imagine any of the users that had seized locks took any sort of care of them so maybe that's the key to not seizing (not throwing any shage at aggi).

Hey guys, newbie here and not sure if this is the right place to ask.
I am looking on the Classifieds Threads to find a bike to buy. But All the posts are aligned in comment order? not posted order, which means I cannot see any "new" posts. All the posts that are in the top are recently commented and most of the times its dibs. How can I see new posts?! thanks!

It's been locked outdoors and not touched since pre-covid ...

Some views of the pages let you see when the thread was started if that helps?
On mobile, if I turn my phone to landscape then this info shows, but not in portrait view. I think desktops will show it too.
You can also look for threads with 0 comments (replies) against them. -

I have the same one, I have to give it a blast with wd40 once or twice a year (just did it yesterday), in theock and the holes for the shackle. Always works a treat.
Double check the key, we've got a few onguard locks, all the keys look identical and I've had a episode where I was sure it was seized but I was just using the wrong key.

Maybe you should be more on your guard? :)

What's a shage, what happens if you throw it, and where can I get one?

What is the best option for clearing loads of stuff from a house that’s still occupied?
It’s my wife’s parents, they’re in their late 80s and the house is too much for them to manage. There’s been some hoarding going on for a while and we need to get it out of the house so it can be cleaned properly and maintained going forward. It’s a real mix of newspapers/magazines, some furniture, old exercise equipment, clothes, blankets etc.
Is a small skip the best plan? Or is this the sort of thing a house clearance firm would take on? -

Let me check with my mother-in-law, she has found a charity that will do this for free, as they then sell the furniture to generate funds. I can’t remember which charity though.
She’s planning on downsizing next year, following the death of her husband, and wants them to take anything that she’s not planning on moving to the new place.

Appreciated, thanks

Ooh. Watching. I suspect we may have to do something similar for the in-laws soonish.

Some local authorities have teams that will come in and help with this sort of thing too

We've had to empty my parents house recently. For us it was easier to load the car up and make several trips to the recycling centre, this let us keep tabs on what was going, and do a "First sift, second sift" clean. If we hadn't been able to do this, I also looked into hiring a skip -again, this gives you more control over what goes, and when.
don't forget to check books etc for hidden money, wills, and other useful things that got put "somewhere safe".

Honestly the thing i'm dreading most is going through the stuff in the attic, it's chocca with stuff and getting in and out through the hatch on at tiny landing at the top the stairs makes it harder.

Had that, and it was covered in huge amounts of dust/damp too.
I did a couple of trips to help my dad go through some of it all and we discussed a plan for dealing with the rest of it with myself and my siblings being able to go through things in case there's stuff we want to keep.
Despite agreeing to this plan he arranged for a house clearance company to come along and clear the loft/shed/garage/etc and then told us after the fact.
There's little point being angry about it as it is gone and there's no way of getting it back but I keep thinking of things that would have been up there that we had no chance to save. Nothing of any real value but lots with significant sentimental value.
Does your lock look like one of these? (But with Onguard written on it rather than Magnum). If so, I've opened loads of them with a good whack on the silver bit on the side whilst turning the key.
The good news is that if it is one of those and all else fails, they're pretty easy to cut through.
I would say though, if you do manage to get it open, just bin it. In my experience it will definitely jam again before long!
Edit: sorry, I missed your other reply. If it's a 16mm shackle, it's not the locks I have experience with as pictured above. They're 14mm.
