Brake levers are great, he loves ripping skids on it

What gearing is on there currently?
Microshift makes an extra short cage derailleur, that clears a 38T casette in the back - acolyte and advent are cheap as chips. -

I need to work that out tomorrow in daylight! Also struggling with chainring as it appears to be 75bcd which I canโt find 1x rings for.

Picked up a cnoc 14 and need new grips asap.
Am I best getting the isla oem ones?
Grip, each, with 19mm plug, Rothan, Cnoc
They're priced per grip so ยฃ26 feels like a lot for grips.

Just google 19mm grips.. plenty of options

Went with these for ยฃ15 posted
https://www.cubestores.co.uk/products/acid-grips-kids-19-0-with-bumper-black?Nervous about the claimed long length, but I guess some of that should be the bumper section. They had shorter "16.0" for "16 mm handlebars", which I'm sceptical about but didn't want to take the risk.

Big auction of kids bikes at NCM. Not sure if Bike Club is still trading or this is just them shifting old stock. Either way there may be some bargains to be had: https://bidonline.ncmauctions.co.uk/auctions/9087/ncm-au11098
(nothing to do with me FYI - came to my attention via the IanVisits newsletter)

Lot number 23 looks like it may have been assembled in Halfords

Noticed a few of these on ebay when I was looking for my cnoc14

Does anyone know if you can use the handle bar cross peice to fix the bars on the cnoc?
Not sure if the bars look a bit high relative to the saddle?
(saddle is roughly my kid's inside leg measured badly on the fly)

Hi all, my 4 year old has been on one of the above pictured Isla Cnoc 14s for about six months now and it's getting a touch on the small side with the bars leaning forward and seat fully up. She's a very confident cycler so we are thinking jumping straight to a 20" bike rather than getting a 16/18" and having to replace in another six months. Currently looking at Frog 55 or Isla Benin 20. Any thoughts on that size? A neighbour kid in her class who is smaller has a 20" and while it's a touch on the big side, he can still manage on it...
Basically it feels like a waste to get the intermediate sizes when they don't look all that bigger...Any advice or experiences would be great! -
• #215
I'd certainly give it a go...might look a bit odd and it might result in a longer reach to the bars...

ยฃ50 each from the above auction. Both need new rear brake cables but in great nick otherwise. Anyone else pick up a bargain?

We settled for a 110mm stem, to fill the 14" gap, before we latched on to the 20".

Stridsland mounted riser bars and a taller seatpost to his son's 14" early rider I believe

He was 5 (115cm) at this time

Bungee used for tow rope? Any experiences you'd care to share?
-
• #221
Yeah, I think it's possible to squeeze some extra months out of a bike by fettling stem, bars, post.
We just put slightly longer stem, risers and taller layback post on son's Frog Tadpole Mini whilst we wait for him to graduate to pedals.

Yeah we use it a lot in the hilly areas. Latex or butyl tube and carabins at both ends, latching the saddle rails and the rope at the other end.

Nice!
We are definitely getting one, when the eldest transitions to pedals. -

We did it on the running bike as well :)

The one she rides now doesn't have a hand brake, so I think it would be a little too sketchy for my liking - though I have no doubt she would love the speed :D
I think we could live with that, as long as the brakes' ergonomics are good. He's currently on a Islabike and he can stop on an รธre / sixpence, I'd like to keep it that way for peace of mind. There's a big jump in weight between the 2 but I guess that's unavoidable
