Can you get the key in but it just won't turn? I'm not sure what the best thing to dribble in there to loosen it up is but I've had success in undoing multiple stuck locks by giving them a whack on the side (the part with the lock part, not the shackle) with a hammer as I turn the key. Worth a go if you haven't tried already!

Hoover ate kids headphone cable. Supprisingly they still work.
Heat-shrink tubing? Assuming you can stretch it over the jack.

So, I'm a fucking idiot. I booked to go to Algeria this weekend for a week cycle-touring, not noting that you need a visa. I don't have time to get a visa.
Where can I get last-minute cheap flights to at this time of year, with a bike and where the weather is not shite?

Morocco? Loads of well-travelled cycling routes (so you don't need to do too much planning) and the weather is the same as Algeria.
-
• #124406
Not true, it's Moroccan weather, not Algerian weather.

I bet you Congo on for hours

Nah, it's all Maghrebi weather. Take it from the son of a forecaster who worked at el Adam 🙂

Morocco seems like the path of least resistance at this late stage, though I'm generally allergic to seeing Western tourists when travelling. Also thinking maybe Uzbekistan (Abdou pilgrimage) or Senegal.

WD is a poor release agent.

I've gone with a double sleeve.
One length had just the problem I was expecting where it was too loose and slipped about, but adding a second one seems to have locked it in place.
Doesn't look too bad, and hopefully adds some more reinforcement for future use. It does make it quite stiff though.

Yep, key doesn't turn at all. Almost feels like the wrong key there is so little give but I'm sure it's not. I whacked it with a mallet before trying the key but not during.
Tried 3 in 1 and WD 40 as what I had to hand but made no difference. Will get some Plusgas as the next step, otherwise I guess I may be trying to find a portable angle grinder. 16mm shackle so would prefer not to be chopping if possible.

WD is a poor release agent.
According to the internet.
I’ve been trying WD40 side-by-side with Plus Gas for well over a decade now and I can honestly say I can’t tell the difference between them. What I will say, is Plus Gas fucking stinks. If you don’t mind reeking of diesel for hours/days afterwards, then get stuck in with the Plus Gas. If it looks like it’s going to be an easy job, then WD40 all the way.

Internet font of everyone's bias. ;) people claim that spraying WD on there joints helps arthritis and others claim spraying the stuff of fishing lures.
This was the stuff, the liquid in the tin was the best, just a little multiple times. Suspect the mixture has changed as the smell has changed.
Tho nower day wd own plus gas and gt85.
People say using heat and then wax crayons work too.

Plusgas smells great.

I have the tin on the left. Comes with a dripper spout under the plastic lid. Mine is now over 10 years old and smells the same as the
people who have been using thestuff at work. -

I'm old and my memory isn't what it used to be, did you say your round, pint of banks'
My believe it that this stuff only works in certain situations. I know that plus gas is best on Suzuki oil burner bike engine exhaust studs. The liquid not the spray. Have done this a lot as this is a common thing to remove. Usually ride bike get engine hot dribble stuff on when hot. Have used wd40 liquid, 3in1 oil, a synthetic gear oil which I still think was auto trans fluid due to the red colour. Also heating oil, paraffin and gear oil mix. Which works well on aluminium heads with steel studs.

Does the key look like this
As you need to make sure all the metal plates are in a position to accept the key. Some time the bottom ring takes a bit. Want to borrow a lock pick set to see if all the rings move. Lube the lock with graphite from a pencil if you have not got any graphite powder. Hopefully the lock pick lock shows what I mean -

No idea what godforsaken corner of the internet I accidentally left my number in, but I'm getting daily 0845 junk calls. As I understand it, there isnt any way of blocking a range of numbers on an iPhone's OS software. I'm blocking each number, but there not really any point as its a new number each time.
Are there any 3rd party (iOS) apps that will block a prefix or a range of numbers?

Can you not buy normal Speedplay pedals any more? Are they all Wahoo powermeter ones?
Wait a minute, how fucking much do they cost now?

No, looks like this. I'm not sure how these engage
(if anyone wants to use this picture to fabricate a key and steal the bike I'd be more than happy).

You know what I have some saved that I still haven't used. Maybe time to break it out.
