What system did you use?

Has anyone had experience painting UPVC window frames? The downstairs window in my house is timber, the ones at the back are glossy white UPVC and the ones upstairs at the front are a minging wood effect UPVC. I was thinking maybe a matte/satin white across everything might look a bit classier and more cohesive. I've not given it much thought though so very keen to hear other suggestions!

I've got a Yale smart alarm. Seems fine, has lots of options and accessories. No false alarms and seems to go off when it should. You get a yellow Yale siren to put outside the house which is pretty recognisable as an alarm box.
Like a lot of these things though, it's only going to work for as long as it is supported. In theory you can use it without the app (you can set it/disable it using the keypads) but you can't add extra accessories, change the settings, etc without it.
It's also worth considering whether you want cameras. Initially I wasn't keen on the idea but realised that if the alarm went off I'd have no idea what caused. I've got Eufy cameras but they are powered off (rather than just relying on Eufy software to disable them) when I'm home.

we have similar, but a smaller opening (3m) and looking at slide and turn, beacuse this room is also a spare bedroom and partial living room when we want to be in the garden, its rubbish when having guests in summer months with just sliding doors because they cant really have them open at night

Thanks - I'm interested in doing one of these

Not heard of them, but their published Uw values are very high (not good), meaning the actual values will be even worse. Also, the seals on sliding/bifold type doors are generally poor compared to the compression seals found on French/casement doors, meaning poor airtightness that only gets worse over time as the seals wear.
Whether the above matters to you is another thing entirely; sometimes initial cost trumps comfort/ongoing savings...

various sedum flowers
Or one type, in my case. I used matting, and although it's supposedly multiple varieties, there's only one type that comes through.
On my bike shed good, I planted individual plants, and there's a huge variety.

I think what I really want is this sort of thing, but nicer looking:
French doors with sidelights, but with less chunky frames.

Are your ground level doors/windows a custom RAL? Or one of Velfac’s standard range?

I'm so glad to see those people also forgot to put an outside catch on their velfac so they can't close / open from outside. Makes me feel like I'm not the only total idiot who didn't think about that

I've submitted a quote request, let's see what comes back.

And noted that an outside handle might be useful.

Looks great. I hear pink mosaic tiles are in this year.

Our new gaff has 5 sets of sliding doors. No outside handles, plenty of handprints though.

Ha yes! Cheers

Ha! I left them off on purpose, think I've still got them loose in a box somewhere. You're welcome to them if I can find them. They just screw in with self-tappers.

We got ours via Yord, who were very helpful and gave us a healthy discount.

Our local supplier is in Bicester, a company called Honour Window and Door Solutions, so we'll see what they say when they send a quote.
It's still a while before we need them, and being able to be non-committal has been quite useful for getting discounts so far.
Nah, just went for the lightest system I could find. Only 50kg/m² when saturated so should be fine 🤞
Yep, porotherm sample from this project
