Oh I chat lots of nonsense. That is not the issue here.
- Was this a factor in the incident as the other party pulled out in to the path of another vehicle without a clear view of there vehicles path. As for your speed assumption, it is nothing more that your assumption. Not a fact.
- It is the past, by your own definition it is the past by 2-4 seconds. Do you get that? Being a motorbike rider you should know that bikes can speed and slow different to cars.
- I see a lot of people in cars get angry/upset at people filtering. Seems to be a thing when people get in cars.

Looks like I'll be hiring a van this weekend to take it to a new life in South Wales. Likely buyer seems awesome so that's good.

My fork seals are leaking and the front end feels a little lower than before.
Planning just to order a kit that comes with seals and Motul Expert 10W Fork Oil. Should I consider anything else before I buy this?

Had a BMW GS on a side stand for four years unused. What are the basics to do before starting it up again? Cheers

I am not a mechanic but siphon out the fuel and replace, maybe flush any old petrol out of fuel lines by running new petrol through, take plugs out, change engine oil, drop some 2t oil into the pots and turn over with plugs out to lube barrels, battery charge up. Is it FI or carb? Was petcock closed or is everything going to be bunged up with old petrol?
Or just charge the battery up and send it.

Fuel injection. Just put it on its stand pre-lockdown and then haven’t touched it since!
Just want to get it ready to sell rather than ride. Thanks for input and any more that comes.

10W sounds a bit light maybe for old damper rod forks - if you can be bothered, fitting cartridge emulators is not a hard job and makes for a much better fork experience. If it feels lower, the springs might be a bit saggy - are they very soft?

In addition to what has already been written; check engine oil (mineral 20w50), check gearbox oil, check final drive oil (both mineral GL5 SAE 90). Check wheels rotate and then check brakes. then check wheels rotate again. Engage a gear, pull the clutch lever in and see if it will disengage the drive. Then oil/grease stand pivots and anything else that moves about. Is it 2 or 4 spark plugs? The second set are surprisingly expensive. Before you start it make sure the battery is good.

I would:
- Charge the battery.
- Check the oil levels.
- Drain the existing fuel.
- Put in new fuel.
- Whip out the spark plus.
- Turn over the engine with the plugs out until you get oil pressure.
- Put the plugs back in if they look OK, or put in new ones if they're manky.
- Fire in the hold.
That's assuming its a wet sump engine, which I'm pretty sure it will be.
- Charge the battery.

I'd charge the battery then wouldn't be able to resist trying to start it straight away. Then taking it out for an Italian tune up when it did start.

Sadly the South Wales buyer was a window shopper only in the end, so it's still for sale. Unsurprisingly at this time of year, prospective buyers for an impractical but fun toy are not plentiful.

Exactly why I asked. I have this dream of it just firing up and purring away. I think I’ll at least refresh the petrol. Not sure how much of a risk the rest of it is.
Ideally I’d pay someone a reasonable amount to come over and do it all as I don’t have time or space to do the rest.
I'm kind of with Lynx on this one, if you saw the accident, tell them about it. I wouldn't comment on the speed - it's conjecture, even if you did glance down at the speedo when he passed. I agree, it should be a learning experience for the rider, but it still seems pretty clearly the car driver's fault. In my experience, the Met seem to have an institutional prejudice against motorbikes and bikes when it comes to accidents, although maybe things have changed since I left!
