There was certainly a lot of people walking the steeper climbs! However there was a lot of hire bikes with triple chainsets too. Total mish-mash of era’s but everyone there with the same relaxed mindset. Here’s some pics from the market

New best bike 🇮🇹 finally got hold of something after a summer of rolling around on borrowed, placeholders, winter bikes etc..
It did sadly mean selling the steel Tecnos frame but I shouldn’t complain with this 🤩
Cockpit needs to be changed, seatpost and a couple of other bits but you get the jist.

Give me the Tecnos any day 😉... oh, wait, you DID! 🤣🤣. If anyone is interested, it's back up for sale (frame and fork or bespoke build). Joking aside that's a fine modern 'Nag - love the Italian flag as pop of colour on seat tube.

Where'd all the Pinarellos go?

Some ought to buy this- amazing bike that feels like titanium to ride. Clears chunky 25mm tyres (I had them measured at 28mm) 😉
Hope you are well dude

I love those wheels <3
And this frame looks so much better than all those aero fat tubed dropped seat stay bikes imo -
• #138
I'm good thanks! They are bloody amazing rides, I still have that purply one, one of the best steel bikes I've ridden. And yeah I've got 28mm Panaracer Evos on mine, measuring up at 27mm on TB14 rims, with a bit to spare.

Agree on the wheels. What hubs are they?
-
• #140
Cheers - they are CK hubs on Mavic open pro carbon rims. CX-Ray spokes. Built them a few years ago to last, and they definitely have so far 😁

A fair few updates:
Orbea- Sourced a set of correct wheels. (Mavic Ksyrium SSC in silver)
- Correct seatpost and stem (ITM Millenium)
- White handlebar tape, white Berk saddle
- Dura Ace 7800 SRM Powermeter 🤩
I’ll upload some pics in the coming days.
Colnago
- A set of fast wheels installed (the shallow handbuilt wheels haven’t gone anywhere). Photo from the jetwash post Roubaix style Kent ride 😂
Vitus
- after a long search I sourced some OK-ish Dura Ace 7400 STI’s which I am waiting on delivery on from Netherlands.
GT????
Picked this up a day ago, from my LBS which I’ve spotted in the window getting dusty over a couple of months. Definitely do not need another bike - but it’s one my Dad used to race on back in the day, and I have super fond memories of him riding me to and from school on the handlebars!!! I intend on using it as a run around but will no doubt get very invested in getting the bike running smooth and period correct. Cue anodised parts from the 90s…

The GT:
I must admit my knowledge isn’t huge on old MTB’s but I do know that Middleburn, XTR, Controltech is all very decent gear. From a quick bit of research I think this is a 1995 first gen LTS, the successor of GT’s first full sus RTS model. It has the titanium ‘rocker plates’ for the rear shock which pegs it as the top level LTS-1.
The bike will get a rebuild soon. On the agenda:- new rings for the Middleburn
- Some tan walls, Rene Herse?(Suggestions welcome)
- New brake blocks
- New cockpit (suggestions welcome)
- flite saddle
- XTR rear mech and a decent 8s cassette
And a pic of my old boy ripping it in the 90s.

The Orbea in all its 2004 glory 🧡
I’ve emailed Dr Aurora Forrester @ SRM to see if there are any old decal sets knocking about. Will try for a white/Orange/grey jobby.

Also took a few minutes to have a bash at reviving the alu finish on the GT. Used a red scotch pad to buff it - the difference is pretty huge! So when I have some time to kill I’ll get the bike stripped and do it properly.

Very jealous! Was the Vitus conspicuously modern? Did you storm past 2-speed riders walking up hills?
