  • Yeah that’s what I’m thinking at the moment. Or just give it a go and stop fuzzing about physical media. I had the exact same thoughts around Spotify years ago so for once maybe I should learn something from my experiences :)

  • Or should I just get a switch and play games with my kids?

  • Astrobot (PS5) is one of the best games out in the last decade on any console. Great for kids.

  • Rez on the ps2 is worth playing, great soundtrack and once you reach level 5 it becomes more than just a fun "bring the rave to the rail shooter" game.

Also ported to other platforms as Rez Infinite.

  • PS5 ordered, but I need to wait for the cooling down period for the broadband signup, then another 21 days 🤯

xmas gift for the kids is sorted though

  • Got it for my Quest 2 last year, definitely up there with SuperHot in terms of must-play VR games IMO

  • God i loved that game. I was a menace with the Flak Cannon - legit one of the greatest video game guns ever created (at least for hip-firing heroes like me who never learned to aim gud).

  • Soundtrack was absolutely awesome too:

  • Finally a game that grabs me, Void Bastards on Switch

    (One @mmccarthy may enjoy)

Strategic space fps with big rpg elements and such cool cell shaded graphics.

Fully adjustable difficulty so even I can enjoy on easy peasy setting.

  • Definitely been tempted to pick that up a few times, seems like the humour is excellent also. Unfortunately these days I share my Switch with my daughter and could do without her telling her friends the names of the games she's been playing when she goes off to school!

Will definitely pick it up at some point though!

  • Ha, went looking for Void Bastards on the online store (my switch's card reader has stopped working) and discovered that there's Wild Bastards too.

  • Unreal Tournament was better than Quake III.

    I said it.

  • I'm not gonna disagree! I was the uncool kid still playing UT while everyone else was hooked on CS

  • I'm not allowed to let our son know we have an Xbox, so can only play once every few months when they're not around. Been playing Red Dead 2 for much of this year, and am still only 30-odd % in. Every time I get to turn it on, I've forgotten how the controls work, so end up shooting a civilian in the middle of town or riding off a cliff. Get the impression I'd be really enjoying it if I had the time to immerse...

  • The scale some games have grown to, most of their player base either has no job or no life, and that's not the most emotionally balanced crowd. The Assassin's Creed franchise went that way, and a large part of the player base (the ones talking online, at least) loudly and proudly say that they cannot understand anybody who wants a smaller game. "Why would you not want a game you can spend 3000 hours in?" and if you try to explain that if at least the core story could be finished in 20, other people could play and the no-lifers could still have their fun, they react as if you're speaking in an alien language while trying to kill their puppy.

That said, RDR2 is a bit like Death Stranding in that the time put in, almost on a real-time scale, is intended to be part of the experience. If you wanted a Western game you could treat more like a casual game, RDR1 is what you should be playing.

  • Some good savings for half life series of games on steam at the moment.

  • Yeah, I rinsed RDR1 almost as many times as Skyrim before the child ruined my life. RDR2 is very much a slow game that I'm very awkwardly trying to cram into occasional rushed sessions every few months.

  • The only 30th anniversary thing I was able to get my hands on arrived today.

I had a slim bought through Argos but they fucked up and cancelled all orders.

  • Looks good.

I did try to get a PS Edge in the anniv colours, but sold out swiftly.
PS Direct has a queue going on RN, not sur if it is restock or optimism.

  • I got in the queue and it just says unavailable.

Good news it there are a few on eBay at low costs already so hoping scalpers continue the trend downwards. There's a few on there that are only £30 more than RRP.

  • just got through the queue, no joy.

  • Amazon has been secretly adding new stock of the anniversary stuff. Might be worth checking periodically if you're still wanting one.

  • console is in stock on PSD now 433
    do i buy?
