Am rather chuffed, Dean Trail Volunteers got a Kings Service Award yesterday for our trail building work.

I am petitioning for Andrew to present the award and for us to crank the heating at the trail centre to see if he sweats.

Also we volunteers were comped a day of uplift at BPW and went today. It was an utter blast and will definitely be going back again.

Feels like a good write up. All I do is turn up every other week and stand around holding tools in cosplay workwear. But it is immensely rewarding, gets me out of the house, collaborating with people I wouldn’t have met otherwise. I have made friends, been shown new trails and learned a lot.
If you ever turn up to your local trails and think they are all blown out, rutted, covered in leaves, waterlogged etc please consider joining your local trail builders. Or you could just do what most people do -open up Facebook and complain about the state of the trails and do nothing to help.
By getting involved we get to renew and maintain existing trails, but also get to create new trails, build features that we want to ride and also deepen your understanding of the different line choices and how to ride them.

Some of the dogs do have hi viz!
Sadly one of the dig leads dogs died recently but we plan to name a new trail section after the hound.

I'm very annoyed with myself. Wasn't even an interesting crash. Hit a log and stuck my arm out as I toppled over at slow speed. Thought it hurt a bit then looked at it and realised it was an unusual angle. FFS.
why!
