This is the only thing I ever picked up on Pork Recordings and there was zero info on the label not even a title or a phone number. Turns out it was Rennie Pilgrem

yeah, nice.
i hadn't realised tetris were a russian group - the name makes a bit more sense now.
looks like that album was their only release on pork records according to discogs.
weird to think that a small hull based label was putting out russian house music in the early 2000's
or maybe it isn't? ~shrug~ -

Hey mate
Yeah I did know about Tetris but had totally forgotten all this detail, the album art def twigged my deep skunk-addled memories.
The key to their releasing non-Hull artists: what I hazily remember Porky B (the label’s co-runner and source of the name) said about the first Dub Plates From The Lamp compilation Pork 072… basically he/they (ie & Steve Cobby) was being sent quite a few unsolicited demos on record (or not … porky b famously was an early adopter of digital, no Fila B album was released on wax on Pork, only later represses on Twenty Three and Declassé). So I think they decided to start releasing the stuff they really liked, much of it fitting in with their quirky genre-defying vibes. As I recall there may have been a Tetris track on the second one, (that may not be correct though). I definitely remember the Tetris name and happened to not buy any. I played two tracks in this mix off the first Dub Plates comp, by Free Drinks and Citty, which were really great to hear back in 2000 on release - very unusual sounds for the time, I guess they are both from demos of unreleased artists.PS please come on the show some time.

cool, interesting to find out a bit of background.
I've not dj'd for years, but did buy myself a pioneer digital controller recently. haven't done much with it yet though.as an aside, I haven't made any music for a while so I sampled a bit from the gene ammons track posted above and messed about for a couple of hours in FL studio. turned into a sort of bouncy techno thing.
anyway, have a listen if you like? -
