Ditto. New Gaggia Classic Evo arrived this week. Very much enjoying it so far although there are a few niggles I need to work around. Main one being lack of space for a mug. I believe a bottomless portafilter and/or lower profile drip tray are the solution to that.
Also paid 390 for mine which is a good bit better than the 500 I had budgetted. Win.

It'll never catch on

Let me know if you fancy it!
By the way, I would not object at all if someone wanted to take it, fix it and sell it on to make some cash. Or even just take it and sell it on as is. I just can't be bothered with the hassle. -

I’m in Peterborough so bit of a mission. Although I know someone who would enjoy it.

Tesco House Blend at £3/227g makes a perfectly acceptable filter coffee. I didn't see that coming.
M&S Kenyan Micro Lot Coffee Beans at £5.50/227g make a very good medium/light espresso and acts like a far superior bean in the machine. Grinds more like a freshly roasted bean than one which has been sat in a bag for months. I didn't see that coming either.

My family are about 20 minutes from Peterborough and I'll be visiting for Christmas if you're genuinely keen and you can make a trip out to the sticks!

Funny how quickly the home espresso shenanigans of the last two weeks have reminded me why I had previously decided to move to a filter only home setup

Amen. A big store over here, Whole Latte Love, just had 20% off refurb machines so could've picked up a Gaggia Classic Evo Pro for $275. And then I remembered why I sold my Flair 58. No thank you!

Interestingly, one of the most enjoyavle coffees I've had in my life was a local supermarket's 'Ethiopean'. The espresso was so caramelly my wife accused me of stealing her monin syrup when she smelt it walking by. I got a second bag, same gold, next was completely different profile, never replicated since.

That’s amazing and annoying

Why did you, out of curiosity? Currently exploring lever world and the F58 is very highly regarded, albeit with an annoying workflow if you're fussy about brew temp.
Personally love steamed milk drinks + caramel and chocolate so unfortunately can't go anywhere but espresso..

I’m not sure if I’m ever going back after my gaggia classic was stripped down and not repaired, it’s in a box in the garage somewhere.
Been filter only for nearly a decade and just have an espresso when I’m out and about.
Not saying I’ll never go back but I’m not in a position to start spaffing on coffee bling for one drink a day, would rather spend on hi-fi or holidays right now. -
• #28172
Are you getting shot of it?
-
• #28173
Not sure, it needs an OPV (I think) and a descale, not even sure where the box is. There is also Hippys old baby class machine somewhere but can’t remember what that needs.
Might be in the loft of old flat so might find it when it gets sold in the new year. -
