If you're concerned that the top tube is too short, it seems odd that you have the saddle set about as far forward as it will go.

That's literally how it came from previous owner. Will fettle.

JJ, Sorry I missed this!
Yes, I can confirm that my dad is about 6 inches shorter than JJ so the set forward was probably a last desperate attempt to reach the pedals, and possibly why he's had the second hip op :-DLooking sweet though sir!
Hope the "ride home" through Camberwell was fun!
Had my first chance to ride the Gillott I collected last weekend from the wonderful @Ivanskavinsky.
He had reported that the frame was a little out of track, but on my first ride - albeit ‘down the shops’ - it seemed true enough to me.
The top tube is a bit shorter than I would normally have, so I need to ride it for a while before I start making changes. If it causes me pain on longer rides, which it may, I will pass it on.
For now, all good. I am off to work shortly, which will involve riding through Camberwell, where it all began.
