Thinking of picking up a secondhand Croix de Fer but it comes with some quite basic wheels - the ones marked "SR24".

What are some of the "best" QR disc wheelsets (not 12mm axel) for that sort of bike? Strong enough for touring / a fat guy. Everything seems to be 12mm these days, but that won't fit.

Saw the Shimano WH-RX830 set - Are they decent? Anything else to consider? And has anyone had any good experiences / issues with the original SR24 set?

For what it’s worth I’ve put a lot of kms on the SR24s (w 42 Continental Contact Speed) and it’s fine. Not light but there are other ways to find weight. Off myself included. The front now has a Dt something w dynamo for t dark months so less use. Save the money for something more fun. Until they break etc. Enjoy

Thank you for the info. Good to know they have held up well.

Also: The Reynolds 725 Chrome Moly that Genesis uses: Should I rust-proof the frame somehow? Haven't done it before. What's the best method, if so? Using something on the inside of the tubes?
