My work colleagues are easily impressed.
Was twiddling my cube (not a euph) and they seem to be really impressed that it can be solved.
Which led to me showing them a solve and then setting a new PB (easiest method still) of 1m29sCannot get my head around F2L, really need to watch some idiot guides on YT.
Personally, stoked to get it under 1:30 (I know this isn't that impressive)
edit: 1:22 now (dull teams meeting FTW)

Cannot get my head around F2L
This is the most fun bit of solving, in my opinion. It is when you can start being a bit creative in what you do, rather than just learning algs and finger tricks which is what OLL and PLL is all about.
Sounds random but there is a YouTube video that teaches the three basic F2L manoeuvres by analogy to the hunting styles of different animals, crocodile, eagle and something else. It worked to get me started on F2L. From there, less esoteric videos can help.

and another few today. 2nd, 3rd and 4th solves I fucked up numerous times so ended up getting about 90%, messing something up and having to go through the steps again and referring to tutorials
5th one, managed without resorting to YouTube, in I think 5-10mins
(started on the 6th. fucked it up)

Another thread mention resulted in me getting a speedcube, lubed. Tonight I as randomly scrambled it as I could & just followed a guide to solve it. Will take time to memorise those solving moves so could be a nice winter pastime. It is scrambled ready to go again.

Scrambling is easier than you think.
Seven random turns is enough to be getting on with.
If you want competition grade scrambles (and one million other features), cstimer.net is your friend.

What's a good speed cube? I lubed an old one with the wrong viscosity and yeah, not good.
P.S. yes I did use the thinnest, bestest chain lube I had.

This is my current entry level recommendation.

Cheap, magnetised and decent.
Get it pre lubed with DNM-37.
For a higher level option, this is my current main:

I can do layer 1 no instructions but then I can't remember the move sequence of layer 2. It'll come i'm sure. The final corners move is easier to remember than any of the others.

When I learned to solve, it was the last step I struggle with.
I really need to learn F2L, but when I look into it it always says something about intuitive movements, and I am not that clever.

First solve from memory completed! (using the beginner method)
None of the written/pictorial guides were making any sense, I was feeling very stupid. Found a JPerm tutorial on youtube and it all started slotting in to place. I can do the first 2 layers without trying to hard then the last layer needs some concentration.
I used the JPerm channel on YT to learn the beginner method, keep meaning to try some of his F2L videos. My PB with beginners method is 1.25 but it was an easy scramble I think.
